I went to another piercing shop because I was having problems with my jewellery falling out all the time. They were really nice, the place was very clean and smelt of disinfectant. I told them the problem and the piercer took a look at my nose and said I was pierced with a small gauge and said it could be an 18 or 20G. He said that the place I went to, should've pierced me with a 16G because jewellery is easier to find.

I didn't buy any jewellery to switch out my half hoop because they didn't have any, so I decided to switch my hoop into my stud when I got home. GUESS WHAT? THE HOLE IS CLOSED. That's why my hoop kept falling out. I can't tell you how mad I am, because I'm horribly mad.

At least I got some stuff to try and treat my keloid, but if there's no hole, what's the point if it can't drain out? UGH.

I want to get it redone, but I don't have the money for it right now and the place where I got it done, they're closed for a week.

It's likely a better option to get it pierced at the place that you got a second opinion from. The first place will likely just repierce it at the same size or try to convince you to allow them to do so.

If the hole is closed, then that means the bump should start to go away. Unless the closed hole is still leaking fluid, is very red, and/ or hot to the touch, it is likely that is no longer infected. Piercings secrete sebum, which is natural. It's part of the healing process, but the good news is that since your nostril wasn't very old, it should completely close without any problems in 3-4 months. This is the recommended wait time before repiercing any piercings that have closed. It allows them to close completely. I definitely recommend following waiting the 3 to 4 months in your case, especially since you had problems, and because your piercing never fully healed in the first place and needs to be pierced at a larger size. Otherwise having a piercer taper it open would be an option.

If you believe the piercing is still infected, please consult with your doctor about a course of broad spectrum antibiotics. The bump is likely not a keloid, as those are really rare. If you had a history of keloids, it likely would be known already if you have any scars as keloids affect can any scar tissues, not just piercings. The bump is most likely hypertrophic scarring. It will go away on it's on in time, just keep it clean. Hypertrophic scars and keloids do not need to drain.

When you do get the piercing redone, please go to the second shop you visited. Ask them to pierce you with titanium. This negates any chance that you will have any sort of reaction to the metal. Get pierced with a stud to reduce any possibility of the jewelry moving as the motion of a hoop will prolong the healing time. Don't change jewelry until it is completely healed.

Invest in emu oil beforehand. Even a small amount. That way if you get a bump, which is possible even when you do everything right (I currently have a small hypertrophic scar on my bridge because it's pierced through scar tissue, and the dog bumped it with my glasses). The emu oil will do wonders, even if you don't notice it at first.

I have no idea what you bought, so I can't comment on how effective it might be, but I trust the second shop more than the first at this point. And since the piercing has closed, your main focus is getting the bump to fade away. It can't hurt to try.

I really miss my nose ring. I was so mad when I discovered it had closed. My mom was also pissed because I had spent $100 (my friend had paid for half of my piercing, but I still spent $40 plus another $20 on a new stud.

All I want is just to have a needle pierce through the closed part. I re-pierced myself last night with an earring stud (which I probably shouldn't have done), but I couldn't get my nose stud in, no matter how hard I tried.

So, you're recommending I wait the full 3-4 months till it's healed before getting it redone?

That's generally the wait time recommend by the Association of Professional Piercers. It allows the tissue to recover. I'm currently letting my navel close as it was pierced too shallow and has migrated forward over the couple years I've had it. It's best to not try to reopen the piercing by yourself, especially with an earring. Anything used in the process of piercing needs to be autoclaved in order to ensure it is sterile. Otherwise you run the risk of introducing bacteria into a fresh wound.

I definitely recommend waiting at least 3 months as that will give time for your bump to fully heal as well as for the partially formed fistula to completely close. This will help reduce trauma to the area. It will also keep you from having to deal with a bump on your piercing right off the bat.

Jewelry should be custom fitted to the size required for you personally, meaning the length and bend of a nostril screw should be enough so that the piercing has room for swelling but the jewelry can still remain secure. Do not use nosebones. Use a nostril screw, custom fitted to your piercing. You can always which to a hoop after it's healed.

In the mean time, you have plenty of time to save money for a quality piercing with titanium jewelry! Which will honestly help a lot. Just be patient, and don't switch out jewelry before the piercing is healed unless necessary. Bumps can and do happen, just be patient. It's much easier said than done, I know. Piercings are just one of those things that take time and benefit so much from the right jewelry. If you're worried about bumps reoccurring, Elayne Angel has a page dedicated to piercing problems and how to treat them. Her book, The Piercing Bible, is really great too. Check the Association of Professional Piercers too. Most members are American, but the organization has a lot of good advice and can tell you what you need to know. I think they have a feature where you can ask questions too, or at least an FAQ. I know their tumblr does at least.

Terribly sorry :c Similar thing happened when I went back to get my ears pierced. I had a terribly allergic reaction to whatever kind of metal the dude used and I had to take them out. My ears were inflamed and I had a type of rash around them, even growing down towards my neck.

Ngl, I was pissed off and angry because I got ripped off. I even went back to the store where they told me it was "Not their fault and none of their concern". I primarily asked them to put a jewelry that didn't cause allergy, especially not cheap metal. Seems like they stuffed me with a bushes of lies.

I hope you can get it done again and that it sticks properly this time.

I called the place where I got it done and the piercer said to wait 6 weeks for the scar tissue to form, but she doesn't want to re pierce the same spot where the keloid is. I want it done on the same side. I don't want to risk having a keloid on the other side. She also recommended gold jewellery. I can buy that in the mall at the jewellery store.

Wait til the bump has gone away if you want it repierced on that side. Also, I do not recommend gold jewelry from the mall, as usually it is just gold plated. This plating quickly wears off, plus the jewelry isn't custom fitted to you and can be too long or too short. Titanium is a much better (and cheaper) choice as it can be anondized to look gold in color and is biocompatible. It is also much more suited to be used as initial jewelry.

In short, don't trust the place where you first got it done. It is highly unlikely that the bump is an actual keloid instead of hypertrophic scarring or other form of a bump common to piercings as keloids can occur in any scar tissue, not just those caused by piercing. Keloids are very large and extend well beyond the original wound. If you are pre-disposed to forming keloids, piercing isn't for you because it is likely that a keloid will form on other piercings as well. Treatments are often ineffective.

All of my advice is coming from the Association of Professional Piercers as well as Elayne Angel, one of the pioneers of modern piercing. I've linked her site below, specifically the troubleshooting page.

It looks like I have hypertrophic scarring. I have a raised bump that's tender and pinky-red in nature. It hurts when I poke it. I want to see if I can get it removed at the dermatologist and how much I would have to pay for it.

That's certainly an option. At the very least, have it checked out to be sure, but it should definitely be possible for it to heal and be repierced. You should just want until the bump is gone since you want to get the piercing redone on that side.

When you do get it repierced, insist on titanium if possible. If they don't currently have any in stock, or it's out of your price range for some reason, ask them what brand they buy their steel jewelry from and what grade it is. Some grades of steel have more impurities than others, which can cause issues if you have metal sensitivities, especially nickel. That's the reason titanium is recommended since it's cheaper than precious metals, like gold, but is still hypoallergenic and biocompatible. Plus it can be anondized most colors, other than black or red.

What do you treat your keloids with?

Completely understand the desire to get more piercings or have them redone, but they're so expensive. Definitely interested in getting a couple of my piercings redone, since I've let some holes close up.

Sorry about your nose piercing though, because that just sucks.
