I'm just ... really annoyed at myself right now? I've been working towards the hoarder achievement for some time now. Ever since like ... maybe the first time I heard Keith talking about it getting retired? Granted, I haven't been working as hard as I could be, but I'm 37k items in so I'm mildly invested at this point.

Like, I hope, most hoarders, I use SubetaLodge to keep track of my items, see what I have, what I need to buy, whatever. On occasion my count gets a little messed up. I forget to add stuff, I take stuff out to battle with, again, whatever. Recently I discovered that all of my CWs were making up the variance in my counts, so I shoved them in my wardrobe (My SL list is only "official items") Then almost immediately after I discovered some flowers from Vesnali that were in my shop, but I managed to forget to add them to my list, alas my count was off again.

So about a week ago I had a crazy idea and decided to clear my SL list and re-add each of my source pages so I can have an even count. I found two more CWs in my shop, but I can't ... find this missing item. Each shop page shows 200 items, so by page 85 (where I am currently stuck) I should have 17000 items in my list.

I have 16999.

I have re-added pages 40-85 and I can't find it. I should have only had to check 75-80, since I definitely recall 75 being on track. But then there was that CW on like 69 that I took out so I went back that far. Nothing. 99 where it should be a 00. I tried clearing my browsing data - maybe it just wasn't updating? I tried going back a lot further. I'm just stuck.

"Well, Squid," you ask, "Why not just look at the shop and the list at the same time and find what is missing?" I would! I want to! But SL has 60 items on a page while my shop has 200, so there's that mess to try to deal with. Not to mention the alphabet is wrong somewhere. I don't know why, I don't know the reasoning, but sometimes something is in front on my shop, and behind on the list. For example, green bb bear and reindeer stickers are before all of the other green b- items in my shop, but they're at the end of my list.

I just ... need to give it up. I don't know if I mean the missing item, or the hoard in general. Someone tell me to quit my hoard and get all of my lovely wears back in my wardrobe. This hoard is useless is a waste of time. I have better things I could be focusing on.

I hoard certain items -- plushies, stickers, I have a gourmand pet as well as one who gets read all the books first, so I feel your pain, especially when dealing with wishlist/checklist items. Missing items, or the page scrolling oddly even while I'm on the computer vs cellphone. There are certain times I wish SL's functionality could be combined or a search function in subeta's item directory could perform as well as SL's. If SL has the access to subeta's database, then subeta's database should have better access to their own information.

Part of me is unsure -- does it get easier or harder as your hoard becomes more and more complete? They've done a lot of good things recently -- if you buy certain merchandise, it will give you the option to add it to your inventory. That's really awesome, it makes things a lot easier. But when you're syncing up two different database managers, it becomes difficult to cross-reference, but you have less wishlist items to manage and more pages in your collection to sift through. Oh my god... when I first started hoarding I had this problem constantly, trying to update my hoard and subetalodge. Everything new to my hoard I'd keep "unsorted" until I added it to SL and then put it in "General Storage" when it was cataloged. But the numbers where always off. I think the difference bounced somewhere between 6 and 13 items missing from the SL list. Eventually I just figured I'd always be a few #'s off. With each item going through my wardrobe + reading to my battle pet + plushies + beanbags it was like searching for a needle in a haystack trying to figure out which items where miscounted. Account search function didn't exist when I started this system but it woulda been amaaaaazing back when I had the patience to add everything to the SL lists! Now I just toss things everywhere and watch the numbers sllloooowwwlly rise.

And then I took like a year hiatus and I've been super behind hoarding ever since. :P After a couple years I'm still only at 15k unique items. And they're retiring both of those achievements now? :s Does anyone have any links to that discussion?

I heard him say it in an oooold Keith Answers chat he did. There has been no set date, and he said there would be plenty of warning for people who were close. It's just too big of a strain on the servers and the achievement encourages people to do it (Of course there will still be people who do have hoard galleries without the achievement, but there are tons - myself included - who are trying to do it only for the achievement)

I got my list down to only two item discrepancies, which I can fool myself in to believing there is only one since my 20 percent discount card is firmly locked in my inventory but gets added to my list every time I add the new stuff from quests from my inventory so I don't bother taking it out.

Here is one spot where Keith says he's going to retire them, but it's almost a year old (So don't post on the thread lolol)

Thanks for the link! It will be sad it's retired but also a huge relief. I can already imagine not having to do an account search for every item I get from quests, searching for doubles of other collection items like plushies and wardrobe and books... So you think you'll stop hoarding entirely? I am looking forward to selling most of my hoard but I'll probably keep lots of items I like, just to have them. The art on this site is too damn nice, and it's gonna take a while to break this hoarder habit I've created for myself.

Yeah, I'm actually really looking forward to the day when I can quit hoarding. I don't think I'll end up selling most of it off, I think. All wears will be kept for my wardrobe, books will be read to pets and plushies and beanbags will go in to collections. Food will go to my gourmand. It's basically doubles and minions I'll be selling.

But I've just been sort of stressing out the hoard lately. Like, I'm 8k away. Even if everything I need only costs 50k each, that's 400m to finish my hoard up to the point of achievement. I was talking about it with my husband, poor guy is such a champ letting me blather on and on about Subeta, and he says I'm so close, I should just finish it. But I think about quitting it a lot. I miss all of my expensive clothes. And the money I could make to use for weapons and scrolls? idkidk

It'll be weird buying from the token shop JUST because I actually WANT something, not because I feel this need to bump up my hoard number. (That said, I can't wait for like 10p so I can buy that stupid Ontra minion from the shop) And I think even when I do quit, I'll never really quit. I'll still buy all of the wears I can, even though I know I won't use half of them.

Aha that's funny, I was just telling my boyfriend about my hoard troubles yesterday when I was reading over that thread you linked. He joined subeta a few weeks ago so he finally has some context for when I process my subeta decisions out loud to him during lunch.

400mill is a looooot, but at the same time 8k items seems within reach. I've been thinking about that too, with the achievement having an unknown but inevitable retirement, I should be switching from slow & cheap hoarding to fast & expensive. But I finally got the 100mill sp shop till saver ahcievement and do I want to spend that 100mill on items I don't want or need for this massive hoard I want to get rid of anyway?

It will be really nice to see all those collection #'s go up. Can't imagine how many plushies and stickers and beanbags and clothes I have sitting in there. That thread had talk of counting all items on your account/collections toward hoarder achievements, I guess that didn't pan out, but it would be hella amazing if they made that change. It won't be so nice going through all those items and placing them in collections one by one tho. There's no easy way to create a hoard and no easy way to get rid of it. :P

I've got like 4 gallery ideas that I couldn't bring myself to start until I finished hoarding, it will be nice to take those out and make individual shops for them again. So many ways to enjoy Subeta will open up when this hoard is gone! Now you have me just wanting to totally quit it again. I wish this achievement had never been born! xD
