Honestly I find it very distracting that when it happens a lot we find a topic that pertains to the interest even though it is old to comment on it. Then suddenly a mod jumps down and says dont open up old topics again. Honestly this is a debate forum, I would like to give my personal opinion on subjects even if its old. Like the cultural appropriation native american edition on that topic. I can't give out my personal opinion even though I am native to shed some light on something like that. Just because its old doesnt mean it shouldnt be brought up again. Give me a good reason besides its old to lock a topic back up. I am not lazy in making a new topic I want to tell the ones who did comment on such my opinion even if its an old one at that.

I don't see anything in Debates except

This doesn't seem restrictive at all, just make a new Topic since you are not doing it to get attention or more posts, only that the other one is locked for being old. Threads that are locked are locked for a reason and "old" is a good one.

If a topic is locked for being old/necro'd that meant that it sat their for 3 months without anyone wanting to contribute to it.

99.9% I really doubt the person you're replying to wants/cares to hear what you have to say.

If you are really interested in continuing the discussion, just quote the old topic in the new post.

Necroed thread subjects only matter to the one person who wants to dredge things back up.

Side note, has said he wants to get rid of the Debate forum altogether.

If I made a comment < 3 months ago, and someone then replied after me and tagged me to tell me their oppinion, or smailed me I would be pretty annoyed. Its so old, I no longer care.

If you want to debate it with someone, make a new topic. Also, if its a super old thread, that has many pages of replies already, every angle has probably already been posted, and I doubt anything you want to add hasn't already been said numerous times already.

I vote for getting rid of the debate section all together. Its always the same things being said over and over again. Just stick all things of that nature in regular chit chat.
