Not sure if this is a glitch but I checked the newly expanded list and found that my active pet has read 1563 books and he should be on the list and he is not. Is there something I need to do in order for it to be listed?

You mean Ambrosha? He's listed at for me with 1563 books

I would try clearing your cache. I don't honestly think I've ever been to the books read high scores list so that's probably why it updated for me haha
