This fall on CBS ~ See the trailer here.
Not going to lie, I'm pretty excited about it. It looks good and hopefully it won't be a romance cliché. I want a good girl representation, pls.
I have mixed feelings about it.
Supergirl is one of my favorite DC characters; in the comics she's all how-do-I-blend-in-with-humans-teen-angst-RAWR, which I enjoy. In this show it looks like they made her a grown-ass woman with a businessy job who blends in just fine, kinda like they mashed up her character with Power Girl. At least they're both technically Kara?
I am excited that they seem to be making an effort to make her a strong character! So even if it's not the Supergirl I love I think it will be worth watching.
I did think the convo with her boss about the Supergirl title was pretty cringeworthy, though. Like, grown men usually don't call themselves boys. There's nothing wrong with being a WOMAN. I didn't understand her point, really. I'm pretty sure calling a woman a girl isn't meant to make her look more powerful or rich or smart.
Superwoman would be too much of a threat. Obviously. Men are supposed to be men. Women are supposed to be girls, because society has one big lolita complex. :c
I know I won't be watching this, but I'm glad they're at least focusing on a woman superhero this time. Hope it looks better than the trailer, because I'm getting a Smallville vibe.
