So, as I was desperately searching for betta-related items on Subeta, I noticed that everything I found looks either incredibly outdated, or misrepresents the true beauty of these fine little fish. Here is what I managed to find:

Now, you're probably thinking, "But Soren, that's plenty of betta items! Why would we need any more?", right? Well, my friend, the reason we need more is this: Bettas can be way more fabulous than how these older items appear, and I know the Subeta artists could do a fantastic job with drawing new, fancier bettas for us! Here are just a few examples of what the artists could do below:

INCREDIBLE, RIGHT? Absolutely incredible, darling, beautiful, so colorful, I love bettas so much, they are the perfect fish... uh, ahem. In conclusion, bettas are absolutely incredible and all Subeta items, from now on, should be bettas. But really, besides being minions, they could simply be beautiful item art for background wearables, cape and other drape-y wearables can be based off of their fins, hairstyles, dress patterns, you name it! This site could benefit from some betta-fueled inspiration, and I hope you guys agree, too. Thanks for hearing me out. :D

I support this 10000%. Honestly I think in general Subeta could really benefit from some more realistic fish, it seems like most of them are very.. cartoony, though we do have some realistic fish. (Which I need to go through and add to Caquex's treasure ahaha give me the feesh.) And bettas are, of course, the most Superior of all fishies.

You know what I would absolutely kill for? Educational little fish items. Not like some kind of lecture, but just like-- a betta whose description has something about the common belief that they love being in small spaces and how wrong it is, because we all know how bettas thrive in proper tanks with room for swimming and exploring. A goldfish whose description talks about how long they can live. A comet goldfish with a reference to "the world's smartest goldfish", maybe a dumb little fish training kit even, hahaha. Fish can make absolutely amazing pets and are so underestimated and and and ;___; I'm a complete loser for that kind of thing and I would drop IRL money on Subeta in a heartbeat if they came out with something like that. I remember the monthly collections with the educational dog and cat items, I loved those so much, and it'd be indescribably fantastic to see more like that. Seriously, I'd easily throw like $50 at the site if they came out with something like that again, even if they weren't wearable or anything and were just minions. God even if they weren't CSC items, I'd still throw money at the site as a thank you, aha.

In general tho, more bettas would be great. There are so many bettas. More fishies in general. There are SO many kinds of beautiful and fascinating fish, and it'd be wonderful to have more to choose from!

Oh MAN am I glad you mentioned the educational cat/dog items, and doing something similar with fish (and reptile?) care! After I made the original post and left the computer for a bit, I thought about mentioning the fact that I absolutely do not want to see any betta items in bowls or cups (or ANY fish, for that matter), even though that might be easier to draw than an aquarium? I'd hate for Subeta to perpetuate the idea of improper fish care simply because the artists may not know anything about betta behavior and health. :c

But I'm TOTALLY up for seeing more realistic fish around here, too. When I did a Subetalodge search the results were fairly disappointing all across the board, except for the cartooney and unrealistic varieties that have come out over the years. :') More realistic-looking fish, education item descriptions, maybe some nice-looking aquarium plant and supply items too? Like fish food, water conditioner, medication and aquarium salt, gravel, siphons, empty tanks... I may be taking this too far, but I can still dream!

Oh god yeah I'd hate for there to be fish in bowls/cups unless the item description was allllll about how much better off they'd be in proper tanks ;________; I made the worst face at the fishbowl item when I was consulting Subetalodge. That is so outdated and so bad for a goldfish, please god please can I bribe someone to revamp the bowl to be empty, cries, this little pixel fish deserves better Though if it was like the bagged fish items, where you could combine them with an empty aquarium for happyfish instead of sadfish... (Imagining a "before and after" type thing with faded betta in cup and vibrant betta in aquarium makes me want to cry.)

UGH YES reptiles would be great too, pet bird-related items too maybe, cries, I would seriously spend so much money on more educational pet items or things related to pet-keeping (I love the teeul treats and toy SO MUCH, please more like this, please, so many of my pets here are representations of characters that.. own pets lmao, I would get so much use out of things for aquariums and vivariums and birdcages and all kinds of things and HAVE I MENTIONED THAT I WOULD SPEND A LOT OF MONEY, BECAUSE I WOULD SPEND A LOT OF MONEY, and a lot of things could totally be wearable). Just the idea makes me. So happy. And they could make such good TC fodder and/or minions. OH MY GOD, WAIT, BOOKS ON PET CARE?? BOOKS ON FISHKEEPING. Imagine a book on bettas with a description that says how much the little noodles thrive in good tanks. Imagine it and cry with me.

I would get SO much use out of aquarium items for my pets, I have several that own fish (two of which are SUPER hardcore so I would need e v e r y t h i n g), and aquarium items could totally double as wearables! Imagine how pretty some backgrounds based off of different aquascaping styles could be, oh man.. Or even like, we could have aquarium plants that are foregrounds, and then more detailed backgrounds that are more expensive (the item art could be stocked aquariums)? OH and then like, there could be different colors of sands and gravel and stuff that would be wearable and go down at the bottom of the HA, and we could layer the items with the plants differently... there could be so many options for scenes of plant-filled underwater scenes that aren't just ocean-based, and it could provide good aquatic plant TC fodder too! (Plus the plants could be edible, I imagine!) Also caves and stuff.

Honestly idk if they're moving away from traditional NPC shops or what but I have this image of an aquarium-type shop and it is amazing, I would spend so much sP there. There is SO much potential for all kinds of things. So much potential.
