Is there a limit on how many characters a pet story can be? I don't want to complete a story and then discover that it can't be put on a profile because it's too long.

I don't believe so. Either way, made sure you have a back up on your computer.

There is definitely a character limit between the story and coding.

Drat, thank you guys for the info! When you say between the coding and the story, that means that they both count towards the same character limit? I haven't gotten around to actually getting pet profiles so I'm assuming that the code and the story must go in the same place then?

I'm not sure how many characters I'm at yet, since it's on Charahub. I'm in the process of writing still so I'm not at the point where it's a problem yet but I wanted to make sure I didn't end up completing an entire story and reach a point of no return. I'm trying to keep it relatively reasonable but I'm getting very in to it so I'm not sure where it's going to end up ; A ;

Any tips would be appreciated! I can cut it off sooner in the story than planned if worst comes to worst. It's a silly headcanon about Dragon Age: Inquisition that me and a friend came up with so if it gets to be crazy long I might end up posting like half on the profile and then submit it as a whole to AO3 and link to it.

Yes, the coding and story all go into one space. If you go to one of your pet's description pages, everything goes there.

Though you can get away with squishing the coding down a lot, so if you need help with that when you get around to it, let me know.

Basically what I did with Newbie was I had everything written out, including the codes for breaking a line or making a new paragraph. I ended up having to condense it all by doing this:

<p>texthere texte text text<br>text text text, etc

And it saved a lot of space to do it that way. So while its going too look messy as hell it will come out looking proper once you save.

Also once you hit close to the limit, you'll click save and the next page will ask you to put in a captcha, do it otherwise the page will not save your progress. Its just the system confirming its you and making sure you wanted that much text. :)
