Aaaand I'm pinging you guys because I love ya <3 You're my battle heroes so I'd really value your input here: (in alphabetical order)
Okay I was avoiding this because I was determined to figure it out on my own, but after scouring the guides and forums set advice threads and MrCool's blog I just get overwhelmed. I would appreciate any help you all have to offer. Pretty Please ^_^
Seraphire is toward the top of T6
My default set: +critical strike tear+healing baguette+freezing/physical Def baguettes+curse of boils tear
Some others that I have: +earth defence baguette +Natural armor/critical strike tears +critical strike tear
My scrolls: (I have 26 AP points total) [item2=Champion scroll][item2=Still Pool scroll][item2=Divine Denizhen scroll]
I've gathered that I need to save up for the Pquill and both wands of doom to twist together. So when they come into the MC I'll grab those. I've also seen that I should probably buy either truth serum or soma tablets from the RD shop, but I have 238 points so I'm going back and forth between buying one of those awesome weapons, or a bunch of wearables. So that's where I'm at there. I would love to catch the DDS in the BHH but I don't have enough to buy it from shops so that goes in the saving up for slot while I stalk BHH.
I guess what I'm hoping for is to know if I'm on the right track. Am I using my best weapons I have or neglecting something wonderful? Is there something else I should be looking for/saving up for that I didn't mention? And scrolls. They have me stumped. I'm pretty sure champion sucks, but it seemed like the best option at the time... (I think I had 6AP)
Thank you to anyone who reads this and has anything helpful to say. I am not concise and am also very indecisive, but I try not to drive people crazy. :P
I was going to suggest , but the weapons that you already have might be all that you need. If you can combine the two wands into the Reborn Icewand of Doom, I'd definitely use that one as your main attacker. The Minotaur Knocker and Twisted Rift Blade are also pretty good for tier 7 in my opinion. I think your pet is starting to outgrow the Shrine of Appollonia and the Ol'blue. If you're keeping the shrine to prevent getting frozen, then try modding your two main attackers with some parched crystals/baguettes. Healing crystals are generally not very effective because they don't activate often enough. If you want, you could replace your icy freezing rod of doom by a once per battle 100% freezer. The Gorgun is the easiest one to come by, it's bought with tokens in the battle shop. You probably already have enough tokens to buy one.
As for scrolls, the champion scroll and divine denhizen do the same, except that the divine denhizen is 10 times better at doing that =) So if you need more AP, then you can create some space by taking the champion one out. If you want more healing output from your scrolls, you could try working on a Soothing Current or Terra Focujin scroll. Morosbane is also a nice scroll that does some damage and heals 300hp once per battle.
invest in a it has 10% heal and a chance to freeze. Get either an or item hunt bomb, both hit hard and give a 100 round 3 icon curse.
Soma Tabs vs. Truth Serum? Truth Serum is the best devoted stealer, hands down, but I don't often steal to win unless it is against an opponent like Lich Lord. Soma Tabs is wonderful with its variety of blessings and curses, plus a chance to freeze, but of course some opponents have one or both of those things disabled.
Neither are a complete necessity, in my opinion, but both come in very handy. I would say that is a bit easier to replace the special effects of Soma Tabs, by getting the original "sources" of the blessings and curses... And it's not exactly dependable. Sometimes the blessings and curses it gives are pretty useless. (That's why I don't use it very often with my T5s and T6s. I do have it as part of my default set for my T7 and my T11s, where the bigger and badder weapons can take up some of the slack when Soma Tabs doles out duds.) However, if you don't have Lich Lord, you probably won't get very much use out of the Truth Serum. That's the only opponent I am familiar with in those lower tiers (at least for the time being) where you have to steal to win.
What I use for my T6s and T7 are... Bombs: Iron Fireside Lantern, Mystical Star Shuriken, Soma Tabs for T6; Item Hunters Bomb, Iron Fireside Lantern, Soma Tabs for T7 Heal + Attack: (I keep these modded with Parched or Natural Blessing) Reborn Icewand of Doom, Replica Minotaur Knocker at T6; same as T6 for T7 but Arrow Harpoon has a better heal so I'm starting to use it in place of the Minotaur Knocker Focused Attacks: Ol Blue (modded with Fire Defense Baguettes) and Blunberbuss (can be replaced with Pirate Cutlass at T7) for Forj Rekindled; Forj Tempered Machete instead of Minotaur Knocker for Jacques Shields: Shinwas Temple Shard, Rainbow Vortex, Forj Tempered Shield Healers: Phoenix Quill, Reviver of the Lion, UltimaPlus Tag Scrolls: Divine Denizhen/Terra Focujin + attack scroll(s) like Corroding Dew or mega healer like Morosbane (I occasionally use a multi-icon blocker scroll like Cobalt Eternal. A good infinite use healing scroll takes priority over all others for me though, as long as the opponent has healing enabled.)
You certainly don't have to have all those weapons. This is just what I've found most useful for my pets.
Wow thank you so much for responding guys! Yeah I really never use that champion scroll, mostly because the defense of the others saves me more hp than it would heal so replacing that seems like step . (I didn't notice denizen had any healing, so oblivious!) I've mostly been keeping the shrine for the healing blessing, I didn't even realize it prevented freezing. That morosbane scroll, I keep hearing about it, seems like the best one. I see that it's earned defeating Nightlady, she comes back every year right? I can't seem to find what tier I'll need to be come October to have a chance though. :P I thought I had subscribed to the general challenger guide... v_v Anyway, in the meanwhile that Soothing current scroll is super cheap to make and I can work on the Terra Focujin scroll as well. Thank you for the tip on healing baguettes! If they don't activate often I imagine it's doing NO good modding out my one use shard. XD I am SO CLOSE to the gorgun, I have 29/35 tokens there. Though actually, I could trade down my very hard tokens and have enough!
I feel like my defense and scrolls are my weakest spots (or at least the ones I feel like I know nothing about) I've been finding I have to cater my set to the opponent more often now that I'm getting higher up. Right now I'm trying to get five wins out of felibot so that's what drove me to posting.
Thank you! That wand is definitely in the plans ^_^ I'll put those two bombs on my list as well. 100 rounds??!! :D
Thank you for breaking down Soma Tabs vs. Truth Serum! I don't have Lich Lord (though I wish I did, that foreground!!!) I'm working on Felibot and I read that I should outlast his bombs and then blast/steal because he only has 3 infinite weapons. So that's when I really started looking at them. How does the recycle beast's gun stack up to the serum? It sounds like Soma may possibly be the thing to replace my Appolina Shrine with though?I'm glad to know I have a few good weapons to start with, I should hopefully get that blunderbuss soon. (I beat Fishbreath in Battle quests, so we'll see!) I snagged an UltimaPlus Tag, I'm gunshy on jumping for the Rainbow Vortex though. $20!! So spendy! Plus I'd probably want it in my wardrobe XD sigh battling and wardrobe, the two most expensive things to get into. Why both?! Because. :P I would definitely love an infinite use healing scroll, I'm of the same mind. Though if there is enough healing in my set a good blocker would be good too. So three scrolls needed at least I guess. 1. Infinite use healer, 2. blocking, 3. bomb yeah?
Also, a question you all probably know the answer to: I read about API/BPI but I've been wondering, for healing is there a similar formula or is it just straight across? Like when my divine denizen heals x5 (I paid attention this time) is it giving me 5HP back? I suppose every bit helps but it seems like unless you have a percentage healer, healing is pretty dinky.
I'm currently battling with one of my T6 pets and here is my set:
The One Ring(PQ or RotL are other healer options) Rainbow Vortex UltimaPlus Tag(I love this from T4 - T7!) Frost Thorn(does very high base damage but not essential) Porcelain Femme Fatale Figurine(best bomb I own at T6) Reborn Icewand of Doom(My favorite weapon in T6 and T7) Simple Catoblepas Wheeley Toy(Another freezer will work here) Shinwas Temple Shard
I'm winning some battles with the help of potions, pylonics, and shards that I wouldn't be able to win otherwise
When you reach T7, the Arrow Harpoon is a great weapon! You can also use the Acorn Bomb and the IH bomb then
Some stuff from the top of my head and armory. Trying not to repeat everything the others said. Don't have time to write a detailed set strategy for T7 (I think it would be nice to for each tier sometime in the future).
Arrow Harpoon
Helm of Six Fangs
Item Hunters Bomb
Turkey Quill
Wyrmgears Horns
Completely forgot about the blasting because it's not a strategy I purposely use very often, though it is necessary with some opponents if you aren't already over-trained for them. (I like to over-train when possible. LOL)
The Soma Tabs will take out a weapon by turning it into a "weapon" with a one icon attack. I would say that Soma Tabs with Recycle Blaster is the best way to take out an opponents weapons because there will be two single icon attack items in the opponent's weapon selection (though they do sometimes blast the single icon weapon generated by the other). Using the Blackmoon Blaster and/or stealing simply takes items out of that selection, which is handy against opponents without very many copies of a given weapon but almost completely useless against ones who have many copies of heavy hitters.... Or multiple heavy hitters. (And a lot of times, when stealing, using an opponent's weapon is detrimental, because it is coded to take you out when you try it.)
The Rainbow Vortex is probably the weapon I trade out the most from my default set, whether it's for an extra healer, an extra attacker, or an extra bomb. When you're in a close fight, it can be good to have it to hide behind for a turn (and maybe get a freeze, if you are really lucky) but with enough AP you can hide fairly well behind blocking scrolls instead. And don't forget the Negating Pylonic. I try to always remember to have one of them equipped along with potions, shards, and other pylonics, which I often configure to try to get the most advantage against an opponent.
[edit] And I also completely forgot to mention my 100% freezer. I've always have some kind of 100% freezer in my set (unless freezing is disabled of course). I use Wheeley Toy because I have it and it has a nice attack, but I've used others in the past. The only real requirement for a freezer T4 and above is that it has a 100% chance of freezing the opponent.
Also, the Divine Denizhen has a 5% heal not a 5hp heal... The percentage healers used to have the percent signs out next to them during battle, but they disappeared a year or two ago with a revamp. The Complete Scroll List (Click!) has healing scrolls listed under the last spoiler in the first post and it's a good resource to find out if the number is actually a percentage heal.
