I went from having hair past my shoulders to a pixie cut. I can't believe I finally did it. I'd been getting really sick of doing anything with my hair (which I fail at doing anyways) because it's really thick and hard to work with and I'd been wanting to do this for a while. I was pretty sure I'd like it. I had it like this once in high school and honestly I only grew it long again because I had this notion that as a female, I had to have long hair to look pretty. I'm still kind of nervous about that though...but basically I just can't find a fuck to give anymore, lol. This is going to be so much easier to deal with. I didn't strangle in my hair while sleeping last night, my shower this morning only took 5 minutes instead of 30, and I didn't have to take another 30 minutes wrangling it into shape after that. I'm still kind of in shock that I did it, honestly. But everyone's telling me how cute it looks, how modern (compared to my ponytail I wore 99.9% of the time before), and how it suits me. The only thing I kind of worry about is that I don't look as feminine anymore, which I really want to look, but even so...I'm kind of really liking it. Oh! I got slight highlights in it too, which I wish were more pronounced, so maybe later (when I have more money again lol) I'll get brighter highlights and I'm thinking maybe some dark red/maroon lowlights too (my 'normal' hair is a light brown and my new highlights are just a few shades lighter). I'm really having fun this morning at work, freaking my coworkers out. Only one of them had any idea I was doing this and that's only because I saw her at the store yesterday before I got it cut. They're having fits, lol. I have to admit, I do really love the shock factor. XD
So, had any drastic changes lately yourself?
[edit] The next person at my job who says 'OMG you cut your hair!!' is going to get this response: 'HOLY SHIT. I DID?!'
Lots of women have short hair and, trust me, they don't look any less feminine. Haha, you should be completely okay with that. :) Pixie cuts look great in my opinion and I bet you look great with it!
As for changes with myself, All I did was get some highlights and redo the purple streaks in my hair. Nothing special.

Ughhhh, I want purple streaks!! I told the stylist that yesterday and she was telling me that purple is the hardest color to get the right shade and it fades fast. May I ask what you use for yours? I'm thinking I might just kool aid it like in high school, roflmao.
Really? I wasn't told that at all. I was told that it's one of the nicest colors and stays in the hair for a really long time without fading. Red was the one that was described to me that way, as fading fast and doesn't work well. As for brand, I'm not sure tbh. The stylist just used one and I went with it. I wish I could help more but I'm terrible with names. All I know is when purple fades it goes into this light purple/light reddish color so if you're alright with that then go for it. :D

I don't quite have the balls for such a radical change...kudos to you! But a month ago, I decided to dye my hair black and my bangs are now violently red (even though, it's kinda pinkish now...). That was the most radical thing I did with my hair O_o
I know the feel - I went from having hair down to my butt when I was little to having my hair either shoulder length or shorter. It's been a pixie cut since last summer and I'm growing it out a little so I can play with styling it.
It is liberating to have short hair, isn't it?

Same here. Went from middle-back to shoulder lenght. I tend to run hot so I feel much better now. Kudos to you! Rock it c:
I've been growing my hair out since a bad hair cut episode, I'm now finally to my shoulders. I too am in the boat, the "I have to have long hair in order to be a lady blah blah". Which isn't true. I had a few guys ask me repeatedly in the past every time I got a haircut why I don't let my hair grow. But both my parents and especially my dad don't like that I am growing my hair out. So I can't win. I just haven't had long hair in about 7 years, I'm secretly afraid I will loose my hair growing powers when I get old, so I better do it now? idk? lol!
I don't have thick hair. When I see short hair cuts on other girls I get jealous for a few seconds, because I know that freedom.
Congratulations! I got my pixie the same way. One big 12" chop! :D
The biggest change for me hair-wise is actually kind of the opposite. All my life I would keep my hair between chin-length (shortest) and just below shoulder length (longest). I like having low-maintenance hair, so it was just easiest (as you've found) to keep it on the shorter side (despite that short hair isn't all that flattering on me).
But then I made a stupid deal with myself - I wouldn't cut my hair (aside from the occasional trim to keep it healthy) until a certain event happened. I thought it would only be a few months, maybe a year at most - but it's been about two-three years now, with no end in sight. My hair is now longer than mid-back, but not quite waist-length yet. It would be even longer if the hairdressers didn't lop off four+ inches every time I've gone to get it trimmed (I specify TRIM, and they seem to hear "just hack away, it's cool").
I don't know whether or not having long hair has won me over yet. In my books any maintenance is too much, and I do complain a lot saying it isn't worth the effort (but I'm stubborn, and a deal's a deal =P). But then a hairdresser will cut off more than I asked, I go home and cry because of how "short" it is afterwards. It's all very confusing. XD
I've always envied people who can pull off a pixie cut. I think they're absolutely adorable (and can definitely be super-feminine), and their maintenance level sounds ideal - but I think it would just be an awful cut on me, and I know I'd likely regret it. I mean, I almost never tie my hair back in public because I don't like how my face looks without my hair around to frame it - so a pixie cut would probably be a bad idea. =P
