Every page I try to load I get the terracoon of doom down page. I have to refresh 1 to 3 times til I can get it to load. (As such I apologise if this topic gets created multiple times).
Is anyone else getting this or is it just hating me?
stop regressing subeta!
it lags with just 483 users online.
why is this downtime at this time of the day a near daily affair?
and i cant seem to open the vesnali coin turnin page =_= qs obviously lags & has been laggy since past 2-3 days now.
Learn to prepare for events please Subeta... the site has been down constantly all night for me. This is ridiculous.
It even went down when I tries to view this thread, of course.
I really hope they give vesnali another weekend tbh :/
The funny* thing is, is that I kept getting host errors every time I tried to get to this thread.
*This isn't funny at all. This is actually infuriating.
Every single page I've tried to load since I got on today has been a host erorr, a subeta is down page, or just takes several minutes to load, before loading an incredibly broken page. (Such as this page, which I finally got to load after 3 host errors).
Since vesnali is less than a week long this year, all these errors and lag are really cool, bruh.......
Also whenever I check the status site, it has said Some systems are experiencing issues, with web servers having a partial outage since yesterday I think?? Can this be fixed or...
Well, isn't that the first event in a while where it's that bad and didn't these issues start days before Vesnali as well? I don't remember so many lags and downtimes for Masquerade, Survival and Morostide last year for example so, even though the current state is indeed discouraging, overall Subeta has made some progress in this regard.
It's been doing this since before Vesnali, so I'm inclined to think that the lag and downtime aren't event related. People always seem to forget that these things can and do occur outside of events, and that recent events have passed comparatively smoothly, but if anything goes wrong during a site event, it MUST be because Subeta can't handle higher volumes of users or other things happening. Not that this downtime is in anyway ok, but the misplaced blame isn't ever helpful.
The last few times it's done this, it seems to have been at around the same time of day; roughly 8-9am Subeta time, i.e. a time of day with usually one of the lowest numbers of users online.
Lag/downtime should not be a feature of events.

lag is a feature even on normal days, why are people even surprised?
Subeta is not capable to prepare for lag. It has been proven over and over.
I may not like it but I'm conditioned to tolerate it.

The lag hasn't been that bad in the most recent events; this is the worst I've seen it in a while (and it's gone now). I'm with , I tolerate it. It doesn't usually last the entire duration of the event so whatevs.
There is always a little lag/downtime during events... but this is something that happens during a normal day on Subeta, so it's not really surprising. And it's not like Subeta is the only site to ever experience lag; even huge/corporate sites experience lag and downtime when there's a lot of traffic.
The issue with downtime this time around seems unrelated to the event- it's been happening off-and-on for about a week, so I'm guessing there are other things going on behind the scenes. Events have been running much smoother than they used to, so I do like to think things are improving.
I think they've been doing fairly well recently. I don't remember any major issues during Masquerade or Survival (but maybe I'm so used to downtime that I don't see it anymore?)
Vesnali has been a mess though. I don't know what happened. It's not like this event is any different from the others: collect floating items, give them to people, earn currency, repeat.

This. Although I still refuse to accept it as normal... I think our complacency doesn't help light a fire to correct it.
Although it is most annoying since Vesnali is SIX DAYS LONG. Which I always think is too short, but with lag it makes shit impossible.
To be honest: i've hardly had any downtime so far. Max I had was the site gone for a minute, maybe 2? Might be my time zone but stuff has been going pretty smoothly for me.

I haven't seen much downtime more lag time which is really annoying sometimes. But everything seems to be okay today :)
Found it! There was one query causing a lot of the trouble over the past few days. It's been removed and should provide a much smoother browsing experience. It's frustrating that one query on an older feature can cause problems like this, but that's computers :/
And while I agree that Subeta has above average lag and downtime (although significantly less over the past year) i'd like to point out that there isn't a single site that can claim 100% uptime, and even less than can claim no lag. Giant sites like reddit and facebook still have lag and downtime. That's not an excuse, it's just pointing out that when you're working with thousands of moving parts (We might upgrade our web server software and introduce a new PHP bug that is only affected by that version) that don't even necessarily have to do with Subeta.
Anyway: This particular problem is solved, on to a (hopefully) faster and downtimeless Vesnali!
