If I'm remembering correctly, when QuestPoints were first released, Keith said the chance of getting one was about 30%. I'm wondering if there has been a significant change to that recently.
The reason I ask is because I normally get about 3 from each quest NPC. My daily average is between 24 and 28 QuestPoints. Now, I'm not done with my questing for today, but I'm only at 8 QuestPoints so far whereas normally I would be at about 18.
Quentin - none Alexander - closer to average amount - 2 Wizard - a whopping 1 Maleria - above average - 4 Mori - none Pete - another glorious 1
Has anyone else noticed this significant change or am I just having a string of bad luck lately?
[edit]
Whoa, and why is my HA the one I had like 6 hours ago? Server problems?
I've noticed too - I actually thought they weren't being given out at all at some point.

Keith has reduced the amount of questpoints going out today or yesterday, I think
Let's just have a website introduce millions of different currency and then take them all away
bird and bear and hare and fish give my love her fondest wish
- Did Keith mention his reasoning for lowering the amount of QuestPoints going out?
I have a hard enough time buying the things I want from the Quest Shops because I only really play on the weekend. With the new rate that I'm getting QuestPoints, it'll take me forever to get the newer items in there.
Just to keep them rarer. Nothing non-seasonal has ever retired from the quest shops yet so I wouldn't worry tbh.
Here's the post where he said it. But 'slowly lowering the percentage chance of getting them per quest' shouldn't change it so drastically I think.. Lowering it from 30% to 15% isn't slowly to me.
- I'm not worried about the items that have been in the quest shops from the beginning. I am worried about my ability now to get all of the seasonal items before the stock changes again.
- Thanks for that quote! I think cutting an already low percentage in half is pretty drastic! If you're trying to change something without people noticing, this definitely failed!
Okay, assuming you do 80 quests a day (excluding Carl and either Saggi or Sarah, and for a non-GA user), getting quest points on 15% of your quests you can get 1080 in 3 months before the seasonal items change. You need 530 for one of each spring item. I know you said you mainly play on weekends, but I still think it's possible, especially since you could easily be doing more quests than that as a GA user
- Wow! Thanks for the math :) I feel a little bit better about it, but still not completely happy with this change. I wish that things like this were announced and not buried somewhere in some thread I don't have time to read.
I hope you just got a really low amount of quest points because that would really be drastic^^"
Yeah, it would be nice if siteupdate were pinged when things were being adjusted like that. Just as a heads up :L
Is the amount of QPts given out going to be increased again? I really do not like this change
Keith has not said he would increase them again. the point of the change is to stop people having huge point stockpiles.
Not really happy about this. I made three quest points today. If this is the new normal I'll have 160 quest points by the time the seasonal items retire.
Prevent huge stockpiles? Please. That is still going to happen. I have almost 300k wizard tokens and nearly 3k QPts. I am closing in on 9k Vesnali coins because I had like nearly 6k before the start of this Vesnali. And I have thousands of those trinkets.
I guess I shouldn't complain though because I do have a lot of QPts. But I still do not like this change, especially since it wasn't even announced. It could've been announced, at least.
I guess I technically have a "modest stockpile" of quest points, then? The only things I ever used them for personally was wearables, though most are pretty ugly to me. Some time back I bought at least one of every book from the quest shops and sold them, and even still as a very casual, very not quest driven user, I have over 500. If I hadn't bought the books just to change it out to sP, I'd still have a couple thousand quest points. If people like me, who don't care about utilizing the currency much and don't often pay attention to it, are sitting on enough to buy basically anything we want on a whim, there's no way that cutting the rates is going to discourage serious currency hoarding. I don't understand this move at all...
I myself don't buy a great many things from the QP shop, wears and foods only. And those are for the achievements related to them since they are so large I buy what I need since it's easier than hoping for wears to come out of that shop and educe in sp price.
From what I see here and read in the SB not everyone buys a copy of everything in that shop so reduced point flow makes sense, but it should promise x amount if you do all the quests, not a huge amount, but if someone is going to do every quest each day then they ought to have the most points coming in. It sucks to think that I could make 4 in one quest and another person can spend their time doing all the quests to also end up with 4 you know?
FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
