Early this morning, 19-year-old Lauren Hill passed away. Late 2013, she had been diagnosed with DIPG, an inoperable brain cancer. She spread awareness of DIPG and raised over $1.4 million towards a cure.

I have a cousin who attends the same college she did and I don't live far from that very college myself. Lauren was such an inspirational and incredible person. I never met her, but hearing of her death really pulled some heartstrings. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, school, and basketball team.

I hadn't heard of her before or the kind of cancer she had, but her story is amazing. She was amazing. Playing basketball after finding out you have a brain tumor? I'd be curled up in a corner bawling.
