Why is this a thing? The staff that can fix the stuff that's wrong has already proven time and time again that they rarely even look at the single main board. How is it at all likely that they'll be looking through multiple boards?
I'll admit, it is hard to find the place your looking for with it all jangled up like that.
Users definitely seem to be confused by it. Staff can't keep up with one board, but having a bunch of them is a great idea, apparently. It makes no sense.
These were requested by Reya and me so that we can more easily weed out duplicates and things that were resolved. That then allows us to report them to the programmers more efficiently.

I see your point, but I think it will also cause more multiple reports/duplicates because people seem generally confused :( oh well. We'll see how it goes.
Totally agreeing with Natasha. People are going to be very confused by this and it will require a lot more babysitting for duplicate/dismissed reports.
shrugs Maybe at first since we are going through and moving things? But I mean if you have an item with an incorrect overlay or there are stray pixels on an item, then I would think it is pretty obvious that you would go and look in the item issues subforum. And it is easier to look through 1, maybe 2 pages of a subforum than to look through 8 pages of the main forum and still not see that duplicate that you were looking for. We are trying something new to help us out. It may work beautifully--it may fall hard on its rear. But it is something to try...

and actually manage these boards and provide us (the programmers) with the rundown of the information on them in our own task tracking backend. The number of forums has no impact on our ability to fix bugs :)

It overly complicates things, more than they already are. It's more work for the staff and users. At least how it's set up and intended right this moment.
Besides, I thought there was a whole bug report form thing we could send in for incorrect item overlays and the like?

I think it's kind of confusing at first but I would think in the end it would help prioritize issues, such as "event issues" having it's own category, hopefully during an event all those issues would be taken care of...
But yeah I can see people, out of habit, not placing their thread in the right category, for an extended period of time. Which means they didn't bother looking in the correct subforum in the first place. This could really go both ways with cutting down on duplicate threads, either it does, or it makes it worse.
There is a report form for spelling and grammar mistakes. Not one for items and overlays.

Ah. My mistake.

I don't understand what the purpose of the "Known Errors & Troubleshooting" subforum is now, when there are numerous threads in the other subforums that SHOULD be deemed "known errors" but for whatever reason they haven't been moved to the "known" section.
For example this thread:
http://subeta.net/forums.php/read/824452/Pet-hunger
It's being going on for months. Staff (MMs and programmers) have posted in it. So shouldn't it be considered a "Known Error"?
And then you have a Known Error Sticky that doesn't have it listed either. What's the point of having those things if they aren't used?
No worries! Honestly I forget about that form a lot too.
But basically, anything we do right now is going to be a certain amount of work. Like Keith said, we have to report to the programmers on the backend anyway so if the split forums help us with that, then that is great. The biggest problem with one main forum is that often when checking on other problems, others get pushed to the abyss of the second page and beyond and sometimes they are forgotten. This doesn't mean they are not important or critical, but even users sometimes have trouble seeing if an issue is already reported. And then when we know they are fixed, it takes forever to find them. We are really hoping that this cuts down on this. It is a big process to move all these to their correct subforums but I think in the end it will at least help the MMs a bit.
I know that some topics have already been moved from there. It may be removed. But for now we can't just delete that subforum when there are still topics in there.
[edit] Of course I am not going to pretend I know what will happen to that subforum either. It may just become troubleshooting. Like if something is going on with your wardrobe, try these things first before making a new board kind of thing.

If the plan is to do away with that subforum, that seems logical.
It's great that things are being done to help the MMs help the users. I really feel like getting the sticky updated more often would be greatly beneficial to players, particularly if things are going to be in multiple forums, and that would in turn make the MMs jobs easier.
Yeah, as is, that particular subforum seems unnecessary :) I will definitely look into fixing all the stickies. I know they are helpful when people see them!

This is something I've been considering fort a long time. It might be confusing at first, but in the long run it should make things more organized. Please bear with us while we get everything sorted through.
The Known Bugs subfourm is being phased out.
From experience I have learned that there will always be duplicates. No matter how many stickies, directories, or guides I make users are going to make duplicates (either because they didn't know to check or because they want to make another). At least this way I only need to check a couple pages rather than 8+.
As far as the Known Bug List: I have been told by countless of users that they never even look at it before making a report. Considering the amount of work it takes to keep it updated I don't think it is even worth it.
If anyone has suggestions, please let us know! Just please keep in mind that Destiny and I are only volunteers with out own Full Time jobs outside of Subeta. We really do want to make things more efficient for both users and staff.
Ps. If there are spelling errors I apologize.. responding from my phone!
I know you guys are volunteers. It has always seemed like a position of such importance should be paid. You guys do more work and follow through than most of the paid staff. We definitely appreciate it.
If the staff is adding things to make their job easier then I don't really see a problem. If things get posted in the wrong place it's easily moved. If it ends up making things harder for them then they can always revert back to the old ways.
I'd love to see users give changes more than a 30 minute chance to see how well it works.
