Such a tragedy

I heard about it on the TV while doing exercise at the gym, and that at least 54 passangers were Spanish. This is so sad... :(

I know someone who's travelling in that area and I really, really hope he and his new wife weren't on that plane. Unfortunately, they aren't people I can really contact. I only know them through an organization I do volunteer work for. But I still would be crushed immensely if anything happened to them. I doubt they were on that plane, but still.

That's really tragic :(. All of my condolences go out to the victims family and friends...

I heard this over the radio at work, horrible event :( can't even find the words right now... my heart goes out to the relatives and friends of the victims.

From what I'm seeing on the News right now, it was a deliberate act by the co-pilot. He apparently locked the pilot out of the cockpit and crashed the plane. That's pretty mind boggling..

yes and lufthansa's executive chief just said they don't undergo their pilots through psychological exams... they're in big trouble

Horrible news. :C I can't believe they have alarms that go off when close to the ground. Way to add fuel to the fire, so to say. May everyone RIP.

The copilot, from my perspective at least, seems to have gotten a lot of inspiration from the crash of SilkAir Flight 185. In this crash, the pilot had lead the copilot into the galley, locked the door to the cockpit, and then proceeded to force the 737 into a steep dive, crashing into the Musi River and killing all 104 passengers and crew onboard. However, this pilot pulled the breakers of both black boxes (FDR and CVR) in order to try and cover up his crimes. These two incidents are both horrible, especially because so many people lost their lives due to these two men.
