Last night I had a taxi driver come to my gas station and they ALL assume we turn the pumps on for them, because they are taxi drivers. No, we do not. All gas stations are different with their policy's with Pre-Paid Gas and such. So when I dont turn on the gas for him after 5 minuets or so of him standing out there, He comes inside and starts to pick a fight with me. "Oh why dont you turn on the pump for me, I pump now and pay after" I stared at him "No sir, its all pre-pay here at this station, if someone else is doing that for you then thats fine but its not me and with me you have to pre-pay." Well I got some load of horse shit from his mouth in his language and shit, like I wasnt taking that from him so I told him to leave. Well he came back in and still wanted me to let him pump first and pay after, so after a nice long discussion with this man of which ever country he was from (east indian) I finally set him up for like 10 bucks but then he goes and calls me a B**** and the C word and how I was rude and an A** .. ooOoooohh i wasnt happy. Insert insult here but i use Starwars Sand Person as an example :( I am tired of being insulted at my job for just DOING MY JOB!!!
Anyone else know this feeling?
(And for the record I do not have a problem with other races and such, Its just always those taxi drivers who give me the hardest time. If a Caucasian taxi driver did it to me I would tell him the same. I am not racist I am just not happy with how I am treated.)
I work with elderly people and the majority of them is suffering from dementia. I have been yelled at, being called names and last week one new resident threatened me to beat me up after I politely asked him whether he wanted to watch television in his room (he's suffering from dementia, too and has these aggressive tendencies because of it). In this job you just have to handle things professionally and shouldn't take these incidents personal but yeah, there are moments when I just want to go home and never return, lol
I feel for ya. I never insult my customers even if they give me a very hard time like last night. i take it with a smile and just tell them to have a good night. but sometimes that is even worse cause then they get more angry. I do hope that you have a better time with your job as it is and that no one gives you a rough time after that.
I have the same kind of job. Are you working in an assisted living/memory care place too? I'm a receptionist.
There's this one resident where I work who I think is schizo as well as having dementia/alztheimer's. She calls me all kinds of names and accuses me of stealing her stuff and so much else. She gets super pissed when I'm sitting behind my desk talking to someone else. She starts slamming her hands on the desk yelling 'pay attention to me damn you' and things like that. I have to ignore her or she'll just get worse. It's terrible. She needs to be moved into the memory care unit before we all lose our own minds.
Thank you! Unfortunately some people are just like that daily so there's basically nothing you can do apart from getting over it and moving on, right? ^^
I'm working as a nurse in a general retirement home, we have no specialization for dementia or something, it's all mixed.
But I know that stealing part, too! We sadly have a couple of paranoid people and one with alzheimer's who goes around and "steals" stuff - explosive mixture as you can imagine but since we cannot lock him or everyone else up or watch him 24/7 (he's still absolutely mobile and wanders around all day long) all we can do is return the "stolen" stuff afterwards.
