I just realized that all costume trunks were retired! I absolutely loved costume trunks and I'm sad to see that they are gone. Can anyone tell me why subeta decided to retire them? Also, does the hustler ever sell them?
I know staff doesn't love costume trunks because they require so much time and effort that they aren't the most financially beneficial on-site items, so over time they were sorta phased out. Instead they have the boutique now, but of course that's a bit more expensive.
It's possible that they'll be brought back during a sale (I highly doubt they'll hit the hustler, but I could be wrong) but that really just depends on staff decisions. For what it's worth, though, I DO think (and hope, I admit) that they will continue to revamp older trunks (like the ones that are only available as a single costume and can't be broken down into individual items)
I can't say anything with 100% certainty, but this is Subeta, and as a general rule, nothing stays retired forever :)
The Hustler usually sells individual pieces from the trunks rather than the entire trunk
Thanks a lot! I guess I'll just have to stalk the hustler for the specific items I want. The too much time and effort argument seems a little odd to me because once the items are drawn, they require no effort to maintain. There were already so many costume trunks out there - I would have been happy even if they had never released any new ones. But I guess subeta has their reasons! Hopefully they come back at the frag shop or token shop or some such thing someday :)
It wasn't maintenance, but the fact that an artist was drawing roughly two dozen unique items (male & female) for so little return (500 CSC) when they could sell individual recolors for approximately half the price. It was more the cost to the artist to draw them than it was the cost to hold on to them :D Still, there's always the possibility of an item being brought back, even the whole trunk :)
Ah yeah that makes sense - especially since the newer trunks had more and more items in them. Thanks!
posted an explanation somewhere on tumblr, basically it took so long for the costume trunks to really get back as much as it took to pay the artist to draw all the items that they weren't worth it.
Though I don't really understand why they had to be retired instead of just leaving them up to get as much money from them as they could, but hey. I suppose if the pieces get hustled it'll end up bringing more money in that way instead
