Allow me to start by saying I've been in a struggle with my weight my ENTIRE life.
Okay... now...
I'm 5 ft. 5 in. usually weighting around 138
lately, my weight had jumped to averaging around 142-144... and now its up to 150!!
I don't get it -_-
My pants all still fit, I'm a size 5 ... I work out more than I've ever worked out before and while I still eat bad things, overall it's a healthier lifestyle than I've ever had. SO WHY AM I TIPPING THE SCALE at 150 AGAIN??? Last time I weighed this much was like 3 years ago... and my pants were a size 9 .... I'm so confused and upset and I don't get what I'm doing wrong
Any ideas as to why my body is currently hating on me?
Training and working out build muscles. Muscles are heavier than your fat mass. Don't panic.
People forget that weight doesn't equal fat. Weight can also be muscle mass.. so if you are muscle training in your work outs, you will gain weight. It's not a bad thing. If you are trimming your fat, that is the important part.
Also, I hate to break it to you but your working out might still not be enough. Sometimes people don't realize exactly how much it takes to burn 100 calories. You say that you are still eating bad. There's your problem. Exercise alone is not enough. It takes exercise AND a healthy diet. If you eat three slices of pizza and some ice cream it's going to negate a lot of things you've done.
If your clothes all still fit the same then you've just been gaining muscle mass and reducing the amount of fat. A pound of muscle takes up much less space than a pound of fat, so you could technically get smaller, but remain the same weight or even gain weight. For example, my best friend and I are the exact same size, but I'm a good 25lbs heavier than her. Hell, based on BMI (worst indication of "health" ever) I would be classified as borderline overweight and I'm a size 0-2. All of my guy friends absolutely refuse to believe that I weigh an ounce over 110, but they're so, so wrong.
oh gosh thats actually quite comforting. I just hate it. Maybe I should throw my scale out the window or something
I would definitely encourage weighing yourself less. There's no problem with checking on your monthly (or even weekly) progress, but IMO it's not good for your mindset/motivation if you do it too often, especially if your body weight tends to fluctuate. Mine has fluctuated as much as SIX pounds in less than 24 hours. Let how your clothes fit on you be the indicator of how your body is changing, whether it's for better or worse. Plus, think of it this way - your goal weight may be a certain number, but you may or may not even know just how your body will look at that number. It's better to just keep up the hard work until you're happy with where you're at, and then work on maintaining that weight/amount of muscle/etc.
I WISH I was that low {I'm about the same height and weigh a bit over 200 o-o} No seriously though muscle is a LOT heavier. When I started working out after my back injury I first gained 15 lbs before starting to lose. Also, eating the correct foods will help. It's hard to get started but I honestly feel far better when I'm not eating a ton of processed stuff.
The other thing to take into account- have you had any stresses lately?
