I'm not a computer genius, and I'm sure the trouble is something very basic, but I just keep getting an error message saying that it is not a valid image...

Are you using the correct url? Linking to the image and not the page it is on. Your url should end with an image type (.png / .jpg / .gif)

I have the image hosted on imgur. There are different links; I was trying with the Image Link, and I also tried with the direct link, but they both got the same error message.

Can you post the links here?

No worries-I just tried using the "forum signature" instead of the "forum image" and it worked perfectly-I think...

I am putting in [ img] [ /img] without the spaces.

Don't know why that didn't work in the forum image... Unless you were using the img tags there too?

It will work in the forum image if you do not include the [ img ] tags, just include the link :)
