I'm hoping for a nostalgic pet. i've got the essence and the instructions. I'm wondering whether it's cheaper to buy the items needed or to buy the toy. IF i start the quest and get asked for the items to make the toy, does that mean I lose the option to buy the toy instead if it's too expensive?

It depends on what you are making, if i remember correctly he will ask you for a Kit(Plushie maker,wood,metal etc) and then 2 random site items. The kits very in price by quite a bit, so if the toy is cheaper than the kit needed I'd say probably just buy the toy. If the items he asks you for are too expensive you can just quit the quest you will need to purchase new instructions for the pet you want and then you can start the quest again. The essence is used with the completed toy so there is no worry of losing that.

The nice thing is there's no time limit on Vanya's quests. (It took me weeks to collect the items for a nostalgic demi toy a while back.) You don't need to quit and lose the instructions, just hang in there 'till the price comes down on the item you need, or someone is willing to sell at a discount.

thanks, i was worried if i didnt complete it straight off i'd lose the instructions, luckily the parts to make the doll were only 8000sp 600sp and 80000sp :) i now have a nostalgic hikei called Rainbow Dash :D starts humming the my little pony theme tune
