I'm wondering why, along with a lot of others, why the forum got taken down so suddenly. Usually it's left up for a little while after the event ends so that people can get contest info gathered.

I was sorry to see it close too. Fortunately my contest runner planned ahead and was able to give out prizes anyway! Yay them!

But I'm pretty sure others aren't so organized and it would be quite annoying to everyone involved.

Yes I wondered that too as well. I was running my contest until the end of survival and made that decision based on previous events where the forums hung around for a while afterwards. I wrote to a UA about it, hopefully I can give my prizes out soon because I don't want to disappoint the users that were kind enough to join in.

The runner of the contest I was in was prepared, so I'm lucky, but I did think it would stay around a while more...

my silhouette in the air you trace

Maybe it's because I haven't ever ran a contest, but it seems like it would make sense to end it before the event ends?

It doesn't look like the staff mentioned the forums closing, and they do tend to stick around, so hopefully staff can open it back up and for future events specify forum closing dates.

Doesn't this happen. every. time. People don't finish contests or take notes/screenshots offsite and the forum gets closed and problems happen.

Either staff needs to always keep it open an extra week, and post a reminder about it, or they need to always close it when the event ends, and post a reminder that it is going to close at the end of the event. This whole 'they did this and it sux because' and 'last time they went back and fixed it for us' and 'why does this always happen you would think they would learn by now vice versa' shit is getting old. Either always do it one way or the other.

Do we really have to go through this with every loving event?

Honestly I'm impressed they closed the holiday forum right when the event ended instead of leaving it open for 3857983 days after the event like they normally do lmao

I understand how it would kinda suck for people that had contests and such, but I mean, they did give an approximate time when it was gonna end so...?

They used to keep it open for what, 2 weeks after the event closed? Seemed reasonable. Y'all saying it stayed up forever are over exaggerating.

I've only hosted a contest once that I can remember and I kept track of everything in a word document on my computer. To rely on subeta solely for keeping up with your contest information is... foolish. As sporadic as this site behaves, the site could have gone down, forums could have glitched and the posts could have been eaten, or as proven, the forum closes altogether.

The kissing ends when survival ends, and 2 weeks afterwards seems very excessive for an event forum to be open with nothing really to do. You should already have your information and if you really need that long to get the prizes out then just open a new thread in giveaways or something to post the winners Idunno.

If the forum ever closes before your contest if over you can always file a ticket with the UAs and they can assist you. I've had to do this before years ago when an event forum closed the same day as the rest of the even.

This makes complete sense to me. We were given a date about when the event would end, how did people NOT plan?

To be fair, normally the event forums stay kicking around for at least a week after the event ends to give people wrapping-up time. That they got taken down so quickly for this specific event seems a bit incongruous to me, personally, but I do agree that folks should back up their information somewhere safer!
