Hello everyone :)
Well, as you can see, male HAs has been neglected again. The results are, 4 out of 6 are female CWs, and 2 are unisex. While there were many male CW at the contest. I think that for the next contest there should be a separation between male CW, female CW and unisex CW.
I want to enjoy the CW but I don't have any interest in buying female wears, because I have no use for them. And as you can see female CW are the majority in the results.
So please, next time, separate it to male, female and unisex, make it enjoyable and fair to everyone.
wait what?
4 out of 6 female wears? please elaborate
background unisex face shards unisex dark wig with bandage unisex hearts foreground less than unisex but seriously? what's wrong with guy avatars using some love? :P raspberry wig female black dress female
Sorry, not seeing 4 out of 6 being strictly female wears, and not seeing why we need things separated like that when judging by this contest's results, the results were more than fair.
"I'm never going to use this because I am male" =/= female only
Isn't unisex just as good as or even better than "male/female" though?
I agree. I liked a lot of the eyes submitted to the contest because they were unisex/male and I am pretty sad not a single of them made it. I mostly use the base eyes because well 99% of the buyable eyes are female ones with hughe lashes, eye shadow etc. Same with the lips. I am female but I always created male HA's and I'd love if male and unisex items would get some more love.
If there's another CW competition (and I hope there is!), categories for voting is probably the way to go, with one winner each (possibly two if there are a lot of submissions in one category). I'd say that Wigs & Hair, Clothes, Makeup, Facial Features Without Makeup, and Backgrounds & Companions would probably be a good set-up? Maybe a separate "Men's Crap" category just so we're guaranteed something we can use, lol.
idk. These competitions are always a little "oh noooo" for me because I know most of the winners are going to be very feminine and I won't be able to use them. But obviously most of Subeta's userbase is female and so many other things cater to men that it's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but it is in the grand scheme of my life.
From the Contest Results Announcement
We are gonna try to split them up into categories next time, so that this doesn't happen again Just none of the eyes had enough votes to win!)
Yeah and people didn't like the male CWs? You shouldn't say that because there were many male CWs it meant that they were 'the best' CWs entered which is what a contest is about.
Personally I love male wearables, it doesn't look like it because I put on as little clothes as possible to show off my zombie stages, a lot of the wigs I wear are male wigs, there are plenty of times I wear male mouths/eyes and I wear a lot of unisex clothes as well. I voted for a lot of the unisex eyes in the contest (and the sugical bandages wig) but that doesn't mean I want to impose categories on users and force them to have less popular items as winners in favor of 'variety'
I believe he meant in terms of Wigs/Clothes/Face items because people were complaining about the lack of face winners and he said 'they didn't receive enough votes' he didn't mean in terms of gender.
Consider first, that a majority of HA's on subeta are female. Next consider that all items are drawn for both male and female HA's and lastly that the definition of male/female/unisex clothing/items differs GREATLY from person to person. As a male who has slight interest in only one of the items that won, I'm not bothered the least bit. Do I wish there was more "male" wearables, ones I might actually be interested in, yes of course. I also wish there was more female and unisex wearables that I'd be interested in. Point being that unless there's something I want, I don't want it, obviously. If there's something specific you want, well commission a CW. Obviously that doesn't apply to facial features but those are hands down unisex (beards are not facial features).
As a solely male HA maker, I was actually pretty pleased with the results of this contest! (I recall being sort of diappointed with the Peka winners, but then I don't recall exactly what they were.)
The black hair could go either way, and I actually voted for it because I thought that it would be potentially useful for me. The shattered eye thing is totally unisex, the background is totally unisex. The dress, fondue, and hearts are probably a lot less useful for male HA makers, but 3 out of 6 ain't bad.
