I got the blistered heart virus at the beginning of the event and it finished its progression a few days ago. I made some avatars with it and then switched the skin back to my regular avatar skin for some new HAs. Just now, though, I got an even saying I've been matched with an infection specialist, even though I didn't pick a new strain or anything? Am I going to be re-infected with blistered hearts and have to sit through it again?

Yeah, probably :c The good news is that sometimes the Bottled Antilovirus works to cure infections in progress with the older strains, so you might be able to stop it. Then you'd have to go to the VIP page and opt out before you get bitten again
