This might be a stupid question, sorry! If I'm infected and have progressed to the last stage (skin is showing up as colored/available in my wardrobe) and I'd like to get a new infection/skin, do I need to cure myself first with the antidote before I can get another infection? Or, how can I go about getting a new one?

Thanks! :)

You just claim your zombie skin in the beta wardrobe, then while you're still in the skins tab you select "none" which should revert you to a normal human while having your zombie skin saved. Then you can get a new infection.

It looks like you already got it, right? I don't know for this year, but maybe the healer could work, or a medicine, if we're talking about past years' infections. [edit] Oh, well replied, ... I didn't know that claiming a skin would make the infection disappear

I haven't completed a new infection yet, but from what I can figure out, as soon as you can claim a skin in the beta wardrobe, you should be able to simply remove it, that is to click on the "none" so you don't have to cure. At least, that's how it works with the old virus.

I'm an old 2009 zombie, I did my biting to get the achievement. Then I simply clicked none in wardrobe, went to the VIP room, selected my next infections (2015 one) and now I'm "progressing." I'm hoping I'll be able to finish this one, claim it and try for another virus afterward, but as far as I know you can't claim new virus skins yet because they aren't posted in the wardrobe. I'm guessing that if you pick a 2009-2014, it will be easier since the skins are already in the wardrobe and you won't have to wait for them to get added.

EDIT: LOL I type way too slowly, or way too much!

Once you claim a skin in the beta wardrobe you have it forever. I was a blistered hearts before ^ I claimed my skin and I can choose it at any time. Selecting "none" changed me back to a regular human and I was then able to get infected with Love Bug which will be claimable in the same way once it's fully grown.

Thanks for the info (: I hope we can get at least 3 skins during this year's infection. Just another question: Your infection was faster? I guess it's because the new ones were said to be longer (to extend the surprise). But I thought older infections had an interval between infections of approx. 24 hours. (If the normal time for 7~8 stages is 4 days as it was for you and , we probably can get even 4 or 5 skins)

I hate hijacking threads, but I have a related question. Is it possible to put on your old zombie skin so you can still bite while a second one's progressing? Logic says no, but has anyone tried?

@ Ferinsy No no, I was a Blistered Hearts since 2012, I got my Love Bug started on the 15th so it's only been about 3 days for me. I think the wait time between stages is equal for all skins, we will probably be able to only get 2 maybe 3 skins this year.

I wouldn't think so. It seems like putting on an old skin would override any progress you have with the new strain because you haven't claimed the new strain yet. I don't know if that's right but I'm certainly afraid to try :P

Haha, yeah, I'm afraid to take off mine and try a new one cause I don't want to get locked into the new one. I still need to bite like a million people. Thanks anyway. ^^

so I was able to test this. Earlier today I picked up one of the new 2015 strains because biting was broken and there was no point in wasting my time trying to bite. However, now that it was just fixed, I tried to put on my older Blistered Hearts to bite people (thinking that it would override/delete my 2015 strain), but it still wouldn't let me. When I took off Blistered Hearts, my 2015 strain was still there.

I don't know if wearing two strains at once was intended or not so I filed a ticket. I think I was unable to bite as a blistered hearts because it firstly counted my new 2015 strain, which isn't old enough to bite!

Yeah, I just posted the same thing to the P&B thread to see how it's supposed to work. I have a fully progressed BB strain under a stage 4 BH strain right now and can't bite. I feel like we're not supposed to, cause if we could, then what about when the second strain gets to stage 6 and can bite? Which infection would we pass on?

Apparently the progressing strains are considered hexes, and that's why we can have a full strain and a partial at the same time though. Doesn't answer the question about biting, but it doesn't seem to be a glitch.

Biting only counts the progressing strain and if the progressing strain isn't old enough to bite then you just can't bite. I don't know why this is.

In my ticket I was linked to the FAQ

Quote
Q: If I already am a zombie from x year, what happens if I sign up using the VIP?
A: You&;ll keep your previous strain as well as get the one you signed up for this year! As far as biting goes, you will only be able to bite once your active strain (not the skin) has progressed to a mature stage if you put your skin on over the new infection. Remember, the new strain you signed up for will only unlock after it&;s hit it&;s final stage.

So it doesn't matter if your old skin is mature enough to bite, you can't do anything if your progressing skin isn't mature enough.

Ah, I figured. Makes sense. Thanks for letting me know. ^^ Hopefully once my new strain is done I'll have enough time to finish off biting then.

You're welcome, and same here. (though I just started today so I'll probably be cutting it close).

In my ticket I also asked what happens if you're wearing an old skin and your progressing strain reaches the final stage. Because like, how can you wear two unlocked skins at once? I'd like to assume that it makes you "unwear" the old one and you just have the newly unlocked skin on, but I'm not sure if it would make the avatar glitch or something.

I guess I'll find out in a few days! It'd be kinda cool to have the skeleton with the butterflies at the same time.
