I don't know if it changed this year, given the biting, but it used to be that you had to wait until the cure was released.

I don't think you can until you reach the last stage and unlock the skin, once you've been infected. I know in the very beginning people were saying they could switch by just clicking a different button (but I think those were with the old strains too).

yeah once you're already infected all you can do is wait it out, unlock the skin, and start the process again. if before you start the first stage of whatever you chose, however, you can opt out of the VIP and re select which strain you want and let that progress. at least that's what i did when I wanted deathslug instead of whatever I chose first

I paid a million Sp for Furious,Torn, then I was bit, and now have foot rash. How does that work? Do I lose my million and my Furious Torn?

Furious, Torn = Foot Rash :) They just used a few descriptive words for each virus to make it more of a surprise for everyone that already knew of the viruses and their names.
