I chose the infection "Furious, Torn" when the event started yesterday but I have not received my event (notification) that I have been infected. What does that mean, so one else has this virus or what?

You need 4 people with the same infection to bite you.
If you didn't get bit by 4 users, well, you won't get infected yet. Try the survival forum to find people to bite you.

This is what it says on the FAQ over at the Survival forum so, according to that, it should be possible to become infected without being bitten.
