1st thing i think this is the right spot.

Ok i am thinking on getting a new laptop this tax time. My laptop is just to old to do anything any more at 10yrs old :(. i want to get the better to last [hoping another 10yrs] with lease lag the 2 i have looked at have i7 quad core or amd a8 with 8gb ram. 1 $500 the other $800.

please let me know why i should get 1 or the other please thanks.

Lucky for you, I'm a computer builder, and know the tech well. The AMD A8 on it's own without a dedicated graphics will clean the clock of the i7, even though the i7 has a more powerful general processing cores. The A8 has true AMD Radeon (the GPU cores that are on gaming gpus) cores. They're very powerful and I highly recommend the A8 over the i7 if they're going to be using their integrated graphics solutions. AMD has really made a great APU with the A-series due to them buying ATI.
