I love the wishlists as they are now for the most part - but I really miss the little note that would appear under items you already owned. I used that a lot in making sure I didn't buy duplicates, and it was a nice feature when you were browsing someone else's wishlist - I'd quite often spot a plushie or beanbag I didn't even know I was missing! I know I can use the "search account" feature instead but I find that a little cumbersome and tedious.
Anyway, just a thought; I'm thrilled to have the "sort by price" option back. Thanks for that!
When several other users and I pointed it out, and compared it to the wishlist search in shops, Keith said it was killing the servers because it was performing an account check for each single item on your wishlist.
It sucks, but I'd take this for more site stability.
I do agree with op that that feature was really, really useful and that I definitely miss it, but I also have to agree with Sopheroo that site stability is the first priority. So yeah, it sucks, but we can sit it out now and hope that with an eventual recoding of the site it will be possible someday to have this feature again.
It was wonderful for buying/ selling, and a necessity when people said "can you check my WL?". Wishlists tend to be absolutely enormous, and account searching items individually? Ain't nobody got time for that. It does mean that I don't really sell any more, which is a shame as this was a site activity I enjoyed. I also don't find myself looking at wishlists, or using my own, as often as I used to.
I understand site issues; they are strong in presence, and great in number. But this was a useful feature that people will miss, and I feel that the correct route of action would be alteration as opposed to complete removal. Perhaps when you view a list, account search should be off by default, but there could be an option to search that single page of the wishlist?
In sum...I miss it too, OP. Hope we haven't seen the last of it ;-;
On top of it killing the servers, it also got to the point where larger wishlists wouldn't even load. So... I'm kind of glad it's gone in a way... because would you rather have the feature without being able to ever view wishlists... or having wishlists load, period?
They added the option of having to click a button to have it appear - why can't they add that back??
Keith said that it's still breaking the servers because they have to check if you have the items everywhere on your account. It's not like in shops where they just have to check one place - your wishlist. It doesn't break them as much because it's not automatic, but it's still a huge load, especially with big wishlists, like introvert said.
When the site gets more stable, I wouldn't mind seeing it again. But right now, the least things break the servers, the happier I am
I really wish this feature didn't break the site. It was so useful. Eh, overall usability vs. specific convenience, I guess.
Well, I hope at some point it becomes possible again. It was really useful.
I really miss it too :(
I've got a huge WL but I'd be willing to shrink it down considerably to get this feature back. I mean, I'd be fine with 500 items or less in total. I could even make 100 work, with this feature in place, because I wouldn't have to just let items sit there until I was up to the tedious task of checking them one-by-one.
However, I think that it'd take time to put such a major change to the WLs in place and it might still be a problem for the site, depending on just how the bad the coding issues actually are. (And I get the impression they are still in a state of fairly significant disarray.) I hope that when/if they can ever get the site "stabilized" it can come back. It was an incredibly useful feature.
