For some alternative styling, I am pondering buying a curler for my chin-long bob. I like the ghd curve curlers, especially Classic Curl and Creative Curl Wand and some days ago, I saw this new Babyliss Curler called Babyliss Curled Secret who does the curling of the hair all alone! It pulls the hair into an inner ceramic curler by itself which looks a little bit scary. :-) So I wanted to ask which curlers you are using and what experiences you had with them. I am naturally interested in the ones I mentioned yet also open to other advices. Thank you so much for your help!

I've used several different types of curler, and my favourite would be the 'classic' type with the clamp. Wands seem nice a simple to use, but because there's nothing to hold the hair in place, you've got to use you second hand... which is actually a lot more inconvenient.

I used to use the Babyliss Curl Secret, and at first I really liked it. Eventually I got sick of it though, and went back normal curlers. They can only do one type of curl, plus it actually took longer than a normal curler in the end.

Also keep in mind the diameter of the curler! If you want smaller ringlets, get a narrow one. For looser curls, a thicker one.

Thank you so much for your ideas! GHD has these heat resistant glove to use with the wands. I had a curler with a clamp ones and it always made a kink in the strands. So I thought a wand would prevent this, LOL. I am in fear of a burn, though, when not quick enough with the hands and I know during such a time consuming and sometimes perhaps boring task, I tend to daydreaming, LOL. So I thought the Babyliss would prevent accidents perhaps..... Do you think for chin-long hair, the Babyliss is not a good choice?

You are welcome! Hmm, I've never had a kink with the clamp, unless I curl the wrong way. The ones I have are [these]. Haha, don't worry too much about burning :^D I'm very clumsy, but haven't burnt myself in a long time!

I think the Curl Secret is much better on shorter hair than longer hair. Maybe you could find somewhere where they let you test it? Or rather, if you buy it online, somewhere that accepts free returns... that way you can try it and see whether you want to keep it!

I see, the tongue is much bigger here than on my old ones, perhaps that´s why! Just bought the Curl Secret over an online shop for testing, good idea. When I don´t like it, I can always look into the GHD ones again. I know they give more alternatives. Which one would you recommend from the 4 they offer for my hair length? I asked the shop yet the wrote "It all depends...." LOL

I would love to hear thoughts from other users, too! It really helps to hear from the daily curling experiences! :-)

What kind of curls are you looking for? Back when I had chin-shoulder length hair I would use a 1 inch wand with a clamp to give my natural curls more shape. I have thick hair so never had any marks left in my hair with the clamp. I did completely forget I was holding a hot curling iron once though and put it in the crook of my elbow so I could answer my phone. Not my smartest moment lol. When I dropped it because it burned me, it almost landed on my bare foot -_- I don't have any pictures but the end result would basically be curls that weren't as tight as ringlets, but weren't waves either. Now my hair is down to my butt and I leave it alone and don't use heat at all. It's wavy now since it's so heavy/long, but waves are nice too :D

Thank you so much for your thoughts! My hair is not that long yet very thick, too. I am looking for some nice natural movement in the hair. 1 inch, that´s around 2.5 cm, okay. I have to look it up, one of the GHD curlers has around this size. I´ll post what results I get with the Babyliss when it arrives and when it looks too artificial, I am going to exchange it for a curler or wand.

Did somebody already worked with this heat protection glove?

another recommendation for natural waves/movement in your hair would be to put it up in a few braids (not done tightly) while you sleep. Then just undo the braids and do not comb or brush your hair. You should be able to do it even though your hair is chin length, unless you have layers as well.

No layers, no. I have done this some years ago yet couldn´t sleep so well with the hair like this, LOL
