I do a lot of restocking, it's fun!
These new changes, the ones that have skipped the Suggestions forums and are being implemented as all y'all wish? They're not particularly helpful or friendly to new players. If you're doing this to make Subeta to run better and more cheaply, then all power to you go ahead and do them. I will adapt. But if you think they're an improvement, they're not.
1.Many shops have more than one kind of item: you can get food and wears from Icy Goods.
2.The original icons, while they were old art, gave you some idea of what was in them. If you didn't know what those item images that now exist in place of the official shop image actually were for from having played Subeta for years, you wouldn't guess.
3.URL order is better than alpha if you're only gonna sort by one oof those things. This used to be the only order they had and it was numerical. If you think alphabetical is better, you don't do much restocking.
I was looking to see if anyone had made on any comments on the new Shops layout, and this was the first I had seen. I have seen it for the first time a few minutes ago, and have come back from a somewhat lengthy hiatus.
I don't usually consider myself against change, but for ease of navigation, I found the old layout better. There is much scrolling involved now to get to one shop versus another. Perhaps, there could be an option to revert to the old layout, scale the shop sizes (besides using the browser's zoom feature), or rearrange them ourselves?
I was delighted to see that now all of the shops are on the Main Shops page. I was far less delighted by the layout. I can re-memorize the locations of each shop on the Main Shops page, yeah. But the icons are far too large and far too spread out. In addition, some of the text is far too large, and the rest is far too small. Heck, "NPC Shops" at the top of the page? Half of the N is covered up by the sidebar because that's so far left.
I'm also confused about sorting the shops into different categories. Cavern of Curios has mostly clothes and a few food items, but it's under the "Subeta" category. Carnival Stand has mostly food items and a few clothing items, but it's under the "Food" category. Unless shops start carrying only one type of item (which I HIGHLY recommend against), categorizing them doesn't especially make sense.
There is already a thread about the new layout in Revamp Feedback. kind of addressed a lot of the stuff mentioned.
) and it was easier to update them with items vs having artists go through and revamp all the icons + make new ones.</p>And what I think is a bigger issue is
Restocking is a wonderful source of income, and I really hope isn't going to be destroyed.
old post
I completely disagree with this point. The old icons screen shot for those who can not remember may have been helpful, but the names of the shops are pretty telling about what restocks where.
The only thing I do not like is how long the page is. The screenshot shows how nice and compact the page was
I don't see how people restocking has anything to do with the order on the Main Shop page. I restock fairly well, and almost never use the Main Shop page.
In regards to the Subeta category, I thought it was for shops that carry a diverse array of items and aren't actually in the same area as the Main Shops ( Icy Goods = Arctic Frost / Beach Shack = Delphi / Cavern of Curios = SacredLands / Atebus Shop = Atebus) but idk
I'd rather see it reverted back tbh
While the Toy Box and Minion Market are perfectly suited for the Pet subsection, the description isn't accurate.
Perhaps something like, "Find all things pet related here!"
That page is the reason why I just use the shop list sidebar widget. Anyway, I think the new categorization of the shops on this page is clunky. Having all of the shops visible without scrolling is far easier on the eyes and the brain. I like seeing all of my options and being able to quickly decide what I want.
Using items for shop images is an improvement in my opinion, but some of them need to be tweaked to better represent each shop in general. To my eyes, the Rathskeller Inn and The Lost Skeleton items don't really look like anything identifiable as food and I have no idea what kind of food they sell (based on their images alone). Defend and Conquer's representative item is stereotypical for a shop selling defense items and is easy to understand. More like that would be nice. I feel like about half of the shops need a different image.
[edit]Somehow I didn't comprehend the quotes posted by Klassikal until now. If they're working on new icons anyway, then whatever. But maybe changing the representative items would be nice in the mean time.
