Hey guys,

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to either Sydney city or to Queensland this year, most likely Sydney in August or October. We've never ventured interstate together so I'm a little lost as it has come to researching hotels and where to stay in general.

We don't want anything too fancy but obviously want to stay somewhere nice, safe and probably near the harbour in Sydney. If anyone wants to share their stories, good or bad, about hotels they've stayed at or know of etc. absolutely anything would be appreciated at the moment because I do not know where to start otherwise! :P

I was pretty pleased with Vibe hotel when I stayed there. They're clean, well furnished, and friendly. I stayed in the one near Darlinghurst, but I believe there's one in Milson's point as well, which is basically directly across the water from the Opera House.

I'd recommend steering clear of Rydges unless you research guest reviews and feedback. Some of their hotels are good, but a lot are very run down and not terribly comfortable.
