So, I'm on level 93... getting to the point where I think this may actually happen and what do I get? Released in the Islander Shop after the RSW in 2009. There are none in shops or TC and only one in a gallery. After 5 years who actually still has RSW points? Yes, Item Hunt should be difficult. Difficult, but not impossible. I've spent a ridiculous amount of SP and REAL money on this achievement. To have it gone like this is just... sad. /end rant

Onto the suggestion:

I think Item Hunt needs a revamp. After so long, many of the items that Chase asks for are not difficult to find, they're impossible to find. I'm not adverse to working hard for an achievement but it should be ACHIEVABLE not impossible.

Normally I don't support making things like achievements easier, because I feel like that's unnecessary and that things should require lots of effort. But I don't think it's cool to be expected to retrieve things like old plot prizes - 'cos, you're right, it should be difficult but not impossible. I don't care if he gets a big revamp or not because half the time I forget Item Hunt even exists and it just doesn't matter much to me personally as a site feature, but it'd be nice if staff could do something about him asking for things like those ankle decorations, or, if they won't change things, acknowledge this thread and give an explanation.

Tough luck sister but the point of finishing it is supposed to be tough with multiple failures. No support!

Support It should be really really tough, yes. But not impossible.

I 100% support this, there is a difference between is being hard and costly and it being completely impossible to finish. Maybe there should be something kind of "age limit" on the items... like after 3 years of being retired or x left in game to not pick it. ;-;

I'm with this. I have no issue shelling out the sP, but some of the things that are asked for are bordering on the ridiculous. I've failed enough at the top level to be annoyed by it.

And if that won't be done, I think the top ten levels should at least have a longer time limit than 30 min.

Perhaps the system should check how many of item is on site. if less than x (whatever arbitrary number they decide), item doesnt qualify for Item Hunt.

No support.

If anything, figure out a fair way these retired items should be rereleased, like Crystal Shop and such, but don't make things easier.

I'm on board. Certain things shouldn't be eligible for Item Hunt -- once I got asked for a sticker that was, at the time, a prize for referrals made. There were probably very few on the site at all and none available for purchase or trade. Yeah, Item Hunt should take a lot of sP and such, but if there literally isn't any way to get something it shouldn't be asked for because then you don't have the option of winning.

- That's an excellent idea. I'd totally support that as an alternative to revamping the IH. I've just seen so many people over the last several months fail because of items that there is no possible way to get their hands on. Like I said, it should definitely be difficult, you should have to work hard for it, it's an achieve after all. But there's a huge difference between difficult and impossible.

- I like that. Maybe after you hit level 90 the time increases. 30 minutes to find an item that there is only one visible on the site is asking a bit much, imo.

I'm in favor of this - with exception of cash shop items & MC items that are currently for sale.

This seems like a good idea to me. If not, I also like the idea of levels 85-90+ being given more than 30 minutes to find the item..

I agree that there should be certain items that are ineligible for Item Hunt. In another forum, I saw somebody say they were being asked for The Ether on...level 93, I think. 400 mil on one item with 7 levels left to go afterwards? That seems a bit extreme.

Or maybe it's time to put the items from the Islanders/Pirates plot in the crystal shop/Cash Shop Hustler or maybe a redeem card that you can buy at the cash shop/random event/token shop. anything that will bring those lost items to the site again.

Item Hunt should be difficult, and yes even impossible, if you want to reach level 100 you need to understand that there will some failures on the way, you will spend a large amount of sp, even 500mil, it all depends on how much you are willing to spend, and if you have it. but if the item is not on sell anymore, it's items problem and not the game problem, so the game shouldn't change at all.

as expensive as that is, that's the whole point of IH: bankrupt yourself 59473 times before you finish. If you finish. :P At least the Ether's buyable. the pricetag is irrelevant, as long as it can actually be purchased.

Yeah, the Ether is a really GOOD outcome for an item hunt item because it never leaves the MC.

Like, I helped someone finish quest 93 with a Limited Delish item, and then, they lost to the level after for a 6 months GA. It sucks, but GA can be bought all the times.

It's up to you to decide if finishing IH is worth the gamble. Because it's a gamble.

Hard to exactly say.

I kind of like how the current system makes it challenging, and ensures that the items are unbuyable at some point. However, I agree asking something retired half a decade ago with less than five people in their gallery (and who knows when's the last time they were online) is kind of ridiculous. It used to be dang I have it but I wasn't online, but now it's just crickets chirping and ragequit.

Do they keep track of the date when the item's released or re-released if it's retired? Maybe Item Hunt should take that in consideration, but then I don't think Item Hunt is ever really considerate. Or they should consider re-releasing some of the items in some way, so we don't see the same things killing items hunters over and over again.
