From what I have learned, pings don't work in the marketplace unless it's a ping to a user. Why is this so? Will this ever change so we can ping in that forum? It would be a big help to be able to create a marketplace ping catchall for everyone to join when someone has a marketplace update or new thread.... and private groups. It would also be helpful to be able to ping a private group if the public groups cannot be pinged. Will this ever change?

Are you refering to the main section of advertising?

If so, the original intention of this was to avoid abusing ping groups. I don't think this is likely to change. You can always make a suggestion for it, but I think it is fine the way it works.

aaah crap. That's too bad. A lot of people I've talked to say they wish ping groups worked in the marketplace. I think it would be a benefit to have a main # market like the # buysellcw... like. Or even creating a personal group to ping people that frequent your selling thread.... not a massive ping group like the buysellcw one. I even made my group private, thinking this would allow me to be able to ping my own group on my thread in the marketplace.

Oh well. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one that suggests groups work in the marketplace. I don't think I'll suggest it because I'm almost positive that card has been played way too many times.
