I'd love it if there was a widget for alerts rather than an event bubble. I'm sure I'm not the only one that keeps them in my events in case I forget to set the alert again, and it's annoying having them constantly there. It would be great if we could have an alert widget to shove in our sidebar and keep all the alerts together - while being out of the way of achievements and pings etc.

What I'd like to see is a widget like this:

• Your widget is empty to start with.
• You click Add Alert and the activity name appears in the widget.
• The widget has a countdown OR if this kills the server too much, simply a note of how often per hour the activity can be performed.
• If your timer is up the activity shows in green, if you are still waiting then it shows in red.

I could see how some people would like this, and I bet in time I'd even use it. But my only concern is, as much as I'm like "woo widgets" didn't say that the new site layout (which obv. we aren't getting until 2018) isn't going to have widgets? That they are moving away from it?

Then again, it appears that layout has been scrapped so maybe widgets are here to stay. If they are, I'm all for it.

I wouldn't mind having a widget replace the events tab entirely. I like getting the events, but I also get annoyed when it hides all my other widgets just to tell me I have new purchases in my shop.

You can change your setting here so that your events don't open automatically

I did that, but then the problem is that I miss notifications because the little number on the events tab doesn't grab my attention. Having a widget option to display the events directly on the dashboard would solve both problems, at least for me.

This would be really nice, I like the idea! I feel like it would make things easier and I'd appreciate and use it.

I would love this. I like to keep alerts around to remember them.

Glad to hear it, but he def. mentioned it when he showed off the new layout a few years ago that he was having another company build. Because widgets were not on the preview he showed, people asked where they were and he said he was going to get rid of them. I imagine that with that site layout that was previewed being scrapped as far as we can tell, plus the uproar of the thread, he's changed his mind.

But he did def. say it! :) Obv. I can't find the bloody thread now with the forum change, but I'm not crazy I promise :P
