Ena and I make a good little momma and firey pherret team! I lubs him. I do. And I sort of like my one-pet family title that I use on the forums. It means I can also spoil him to the extreme if I so wish.
But I've been eyeing a Kanis and a Montre recently... Not sure Ena would take to have some sibs. Opinions? :D
Everytime I get the urge to have a second pet, I start to regret it pretty quickly and end up returning the poor thing to the adoption center. If you're used to having just one to spoil, it gets frusterating when you get a rare item and having to choose who gets to eat/read/treasure etc.
Maybe as a way to ease into it, you could start to collect the things you'd want for your potential new pet, and see how long you stay attached to the idea before you actually adopt. That might help you find out if its just a passing impulse or something you'll really be happy with long-term.
Good luck & have fun with whatever you decide!
I guess it depends if you really care about all those kinds of stats for specific pets. I have 12 pets and only really focus on about 3 tbh. Even then 1 out of those 3 gets pretty much everything unless it's TC related. I guess it really depends on if you have an interest in more pets or even the pet spotlight. Like, if you have different ideas that won't fit for your current pet. I agree with though. Ease into the idea before you make a decision. :)

I'd go back in time and keep Fartsie as my only pet. But I've found it too restrictive .. so I started to get more, and more.
And now I'm in way too much.
It depends on your motivation, are you a spotlight person? A battler? ..
I'd vote for more! Plus, if you want to keep the title, it's yours forever regardless... so having more than one pet won't take that away, ahaha C: Plus, if you invest in more pets, it's probably better in the long run as far as loyalty boxes go (since a pet slot is worth $20, and since the loyalty box grants you a special slot and doesn't impact how many you can buy (so if you haven't hit your limit, it won't hurt you, and if you had hit your limit you still get the extra slot... so it's basically priceless)
And yeah it might suck since you would have to figure out which pet you use whatever on, but it's not too bad. You just have to decide who you want to have what - so for example, out of my massive amount of over 30 pets, Belle is my gourmad, the pet I read books to, and slowly I'm stating her up to be my battle pet. The only suggestion I have is that you make your battle pet the same pet you read books to.
But other than that, even if you're not into the spotlight or whatever, having more pets does allow you to have all of those extra pet/species combos you want to have!
Thanks, I know the title does not go away, but I would feel super silly using it if I had more than one pet on the account. I will admit I have no clue what you meant by loyalty boxes...? Is that with regards to the 5 pet limit? Unsure what the benefits are.
I'm going to start putting things aside for a Storm Montre and see how I feel after New Years, I think. I do not play games or restock much - I mostly rely on the quests for my daily SP, so maybe having one pet will be easier on my "income."
You have five pet slots and you can get another temporary five pet slots with a GA (don't worry - when your GA expires, you don't lose those pets. If you abandon one of the pets, you can't adopt another one to fill that slot unless you get another GA though)
On top of that, you can an extra 25 pet slots, all of which cost $20/2,000csc each. So for you, without loyalty totems, you can get up to 35 pet slots. However, loyalty pet slot totems are free (you get your first loyalty box on your second year anniversary on subeta), which is why I mentioned them. c: You can use your loyalty box to get other totems, like one can change your pet to any color, another can give you a free username change, but honestly I think the pet slot one is the best. xD (Moreso since it's a permanent boost to your account)
Ahhh... hopefully I explained that alright. There is a pet slot breakdown on your preferences.
@ Cardamom I want to echo , you don't have to enter the spotlight to have more pets. The vast selection of different and beautiful pets on subeta is too tempting to not get more. And I totally don't think using that "only had room for one" title is silly when you have more than one pet. Actually, I usually never assume somebody using that title only has one pet :).
As for choosing which pet to spoil, I agree it can be a little hard. For me, I picked my first ever pet as my battle, book-reading, and gourmand pet. And I spoil my other pets with TC items as I develop characters for them. Also, you might not have enough "income" to spoil more than one pet at the moment, but as your account grow older, you'd have more and more extra funds. So I'd say don't shut off the possibility of getting more pets yet.
Anyways, good luck deciding, and 's idea to get into it slowly is excellent. It's never good rushing into things you are not certain yet :). I've made so many mistakes and wasted so much $ in that regard xD.

I think it really depends on how much you want to spend on each individual pet personally. I remember at one point a long, long time ago thinking I'd only have 3-4 pets maybe and now I have over 30 so.. yeah.
As for me, I tend to focus on particular pets or give them certain roles. Bibliotheque is my gourmand pet, and my reading pet. Huo is my battle pet, etc..etc...
I have a ton of pets, but that's because they also serve as creative outlets for stories and each one sort of exists in their own insular creative world.
I don't know how you can only have one haha! I am constantly wanting more and more (but have to wait for when I save up enough for another slot)
All of my battle/reading focus goes to ONE pet still. I've chosen him as my main pet, and once he gets good enough I'll pick another to take his place. I'm never going to be in the top lists or anything so having a ton of well rounded pets is better in my opinion :) Plus when you win all those cheap books and stuff you can keep dumping them on pets until you have no more pets that can read those books which is nice.
Treasure chests are also more fun with the more pets you have. You can have as many themes as you have pets which allows for a lot of creativity and keeping things organized to some degree as well.
Honestly if you want more, go for it. You can keep spoiling your first one ;)
I used to have 13 pets and it was already way too overwhelming too me. I really admire people who can keep up working on 40+ pets, but I couldn't be like that.
Right now I have one battle pet, but I'm going to get another pet most likely tomorrow for food and toys and those achievements. I'm just tired of having to feed my pet before battling just because I don't want to miss out on Major Drills' quests and other achievements.
To me, 1-3 pets are enough. But I'm not interested in treasure chests or writing stories about any pet, I'm more interested in the practical use of pets.
Being a roleplayer, it would be impossible for me to have only one pet. Silly, really. Plus I just couldn't decide on only ONE combination. There are so many different species and colors that are sooooo good together. This is just personal opinion though. I have 15 currently and will definitely be adding at least one every year with my loyalty boxes. And I know what you mean about the Storm Montres. I had to have one, so I adopted Subdued from the pound and made him a Storm Montre.
Ultimately the decision is up to you, but my advice is similar to those above, try to ease into it and see what you'd like. Pick your most favorite pet out there and toy with the idea. Couldn't hurt.
