"Everybody knows the phrase "sitting on the couch eating bon bons", but ask most people what a bon bon is, and they'd be hard-pressed to tell you.

The name bon bons stems from the French word "bon", which means "good". Think: Bon Voyage (have a good trip/voyage), Bon Appétit (have a good meal/appetite). Put a "bon" and a "bon" together and you've got something doubly good - a goody goody! We couldn't agree more.

Perhaps the confusion about what a bon bon actually is comes from the fact that the gourmet chocolate bon bons term "bon bon" is a universal word for "candy" in French, as well as many other languages like Dutch, German, Hungarian, and Turkish. In the United States kids bugs their parents by saying: "Can I have some candy? I want some candy!"; in France, children say: "Je veux un bon bon!"

Thus, you can find all different types of candies labeled as "bon bons". They include: hard candy, lollipops, chocolates, sweetmeats, taffy, sugarplums, sugar-coated almonds, fruit-flavored candies, and chocolate-covered confections.

Here at South 'n France, we've established a way to easily explain how to differentiate bon bons from other sweets. Chocolate-covered bon bons are most often confused with truffles. But truffles are a chocolate-based confection, usually made by starting with a chocolate ganache base (which is later rolled in cocoa powder, sugars, finely chopped nuts, coconut, etc.). The other major truffle category consists of a chocolate shell that is formed and later filled with a praline or liquor filling.

Bon bons, on the other hand, are not chocolates to begin with; they are sweet confections that can stand alone, but instead get dipped in chocolate at the very end of the candy making process. I'm having an difficult time with these blasted fairies actually. I'm barely at 50 found and 53 released—I know I could easily buy them but I don't—so I've got a long way to go still and the month is gaining on half way over.

As far as bonbon candies go, if they are the same ones our French classes in high school sold then yes and OMG are they good! If we're referring to real bonbons, I've never tried them before. What I wouldn't give to get my hands on those candies from high school though....

Yeah they are SUPER HARD to get without buying. I really don't think I want to spend that much since I'm sooooo far from the total for the layout. It really bums me out though I'd really like to have the layout.

These are what I mean, however when I was searching for them I found that little blurb. I've got to find a place that has all the flavors. I recently stumbled upon a World Market store that had two of the kinds I was so stoked it wasn't even funny. The only thing is, they said they only carry them around Christmas-time.

No, I live at my grandmas and my dad and I share the garage. We have a spare room and I finally bulked up the courage to ask my grandma for it because I'm just tired of my dad not allowing me to do much in the room. And yea, stress isn't fun. Everything will work out though, and then you'll be stress free. ^^

good luck decorating your room! me and my friend went thrift shopping for lamps, cooking appliances and decorative stuff, so tired ;w;

idk if they have a similar initiative but here anti squatting corporations allow you to stay in buildings destined to be demolished for an uncertain amount of time for a really, really low price. we pay 115 euros (around 143 dollars) rent a month, which is great, but at the same time we don't know when we need to gtfo. all i know is we get to stay in this building because a rare breed of bats reside there and they're not allowed to take it down whilst they're there.
