Spoiler rule

I am now getting two conflicting bits of information. In the past years, I was told it was fine to talk about past Melody's Cottage items even during the current year because they can't be obtained anymore. So, for example, it would be okay for me to talk about yesterday's gifts today as yesterday's items can't be obtained anymore. Now I was just told by a friend that you can't talk about previous days' items of the current year because it's still considered spoilers. How could it be a spoiler when you can't get the items anymore?

Would someone please clarify? Preferably a Staffie?

The best way to get a staff answer is going to be a ticket. I very rarely see staff replies in this forum. But in the meantime, just to be safe, I'd use a spoiler alert anyway and avoid it in the shoutbox. I would think it'd be fine but that's just my opinion.
