The Crystal Shop is where some retired stuff goes anyway, if I recall correctly. Maybe there could be a limited run of pieces for Genetech Combos that are currently retired (yes, I'm thinking of the Gray Cowl Top among other)? It'd be especially nice for the holiday season, for people to be able to make stuff for their friends, and would probably clean up a decent amount of junk as people frag like mad. Just a thought.

As much as I want to make the new jackets and don't want to spend a mil for each item required, I can't really get behind this. It's not like there aren't a lot of the Gray Cowl Top on site. There are a ton. They're just being hoarded. So no, I don't support this. >.>

That's why I suggested a small number in the Crystal Shop, since the number put into circulation can be finely controlled. It's just a thought considering the timing and popularity of this release.

I'm not sure what it would be, but perhaps the site could offer an incentive for the earliest people who get to corner the market to give up some items in exchange for something? I agree that creating more items isn't necessary.

I love this idea in theory, but I'm not sure how necessary it is. The Gray Cowl Top is used in a brand new combo, so of course people snapped them up and are hoarding them for the time being.

But was used in a combo 4 months ago, is retired, and is under 1m in user shops. I don't think that's unreasonable for a WL item, if you're looking to make the combo with it.

I don't know of any other combos involving retired items off hand to check the prices on them, but this is probably something that would be very good to bring up in the future, when more and more of those retired items start getting used up (or maybe release them back into user shops with a shiny new revamp, like I believe the trenchcoats were?) but I don't think we need it right now.

Agreed.... very much so. In user shops, the pieces for Wrenchett, for example, are actually more expensive than the finished minion. Now how does that make any sense?

I think this is something that staff should at least look into, maybe. We don't necessarily need the newest items added every time a new combo is released, but there are some scattered here and there from items past that are still pretty inflated. Maybe there are a handful that could be added, in small amounts. I know that fragging is/was considered something that was helpful in inflating super-cheap items and reducing clutter in big shops - that's always good!

YES YES YES. The Crystal Shop rarely gets the love it deserves, and this would be a good way to slightly increase the availability of items that are retired but get used up for various things. Plus, it might launch at least a little bit of a cleanse of the massive number of junk items out there.
