Link This is the thing that people don't get about industrialized farming. It's not better, it's not healthier, it's not safer, it's not more sustainable, and ultimately, if this happens, YOU WILL DIE. THE END. Seriously though, that's not even getting into ecological conservation and whatnot. That's just strait farmland {and if we lose rainforests/cloud forests/ect the whole system gets totally fucked up. More so than it already is. If anyone wants me to go into detail feel free to send me a smail or ping me}
Does this scare the shit out of anyone else..?

Farms and industries are the ones that takes most of lands and water. To feed humans, there needs to be food (meat, veggies, grains). But grains are also the base of the animals diet. Vegetarian, vegan, meat lover .. it doesn't matter anymore. Everything that you consume is degrading the condition of our planet.
It's like everyone should need to stop eating all at once :/
Hah...
This kind of shit has been scaring me fore over half my life.
But of course, no one in a position to actually change things gives a fuck. It's all about the money money money money money for them, and the overwhelming majority of them will be dead in less than fifty years so why should they care? They've got theirs! Everyone else can get fucked!
That or they just handwave it away with "Well, it's not our responsibility because JESUS is definitely coming back soon and he'll make everything perfect again!" Urrrrrgh....
(Don't get me wrong, I identify as a Christian, but the Bible pretty explicitly says that that's not how things are supposed to go down. It also says that even Jesus doesn't know when he's supposed to return, only God knows that, and if you're claiming that he's "definitely" coming back at any point you're kind of saying "I know as much as God does!" and, uh... no.
ANYWAY. Sorry, didn't mean to go off on a tangent there.)
Yeah really... that's one of the things that really bugs me about my religion. The general interpenetration of Genisis 1:28 is "go have a zillion children" Because obviously, if the good book says so it must be true. {Ignoring minor details like, I dunno... the Nicene Creed and issues with translating something from one language to another}
Same thing with the "and subdue it" part referring to the planet.
Because OBVIOUSLY that gives us the right to rape and pillage the very thing that gives us all life. {In that aspect I suppose I'm more than a little paganistic in my beliefs...}
Anyway, if you haven't heard the song "Rape of the World" by Tracy Chapman, give it a listen. It was written nearly 20 years ago but wow it puts things in perspective.

I actually have a friend who got into trouble for playing that song at the homeless shelter I spent a year and a half in... The woman in charge said that it was "too negative" and "not wholesome." :x (And I swear, the word "wholesome" tastes like vomit to me now, because of her. Ugh. BUT that's another issue entirely.)
There are so many things I take issue with in regards to modern Christianity - but mostly how it gets treated as a "Get Out Of Jail Free Responsibility" card in regards to any and every social and environmental issue the world faces today. It absolutely infuriates me...
