How many white men beat the shit out of their wives and never face serious criminal charges? Even when the women call the cops on them and have them arrested?
How many of these white men then go on to maim or kill these women? And the media either still ignores it or treats the men like the poor little victims?
But when a black guy hits a woman (with a fucking sandwich,) the immediate response it "OMG [I]DANGEROUS CRIMINAL[/I] MUST PUT IT ALL OVER THE NEWS AND ARRAIGN HIM ON SERIOUS CRIMINAL CHARGES AND MAKE THIS INTO A HUMONGOUS DEAL EVEN THOUGH WE NEVER GIVE THIS KIND OF ATTENTION TO ABUSIVE [I]WHITE MEN[/I]!!!!!"
In case you haven't noticed, I've gotten severely critical of how the media treats white criminals vs black criminals over the past few years It's so fucking idiotic and yet no one ever calls them out!
I'm pretty sure if this was a white guy, it'd still be all over the news. Why? Because it's a sandwich. That's really the only reason it's getting insane attention. It's the "..What?" factor.
Agreed. I didn't even notice what color the guy was. In fact, the guy who told me about it is a black guy and he thought he it was funny. Not funny the guy hit his pregnant wife but funny in that it was a sandwich.
Yeah, somehow I doubt this would "still be all over the news" if this were a white guy. Why? Because I'm 100% sure that this guy isn't the first, and won't be the last man to assault a woman with food.
If you bother to actually read the article, it's pretty obvious they're not trying to play at "humor" beyond the "hook" of the article ("lol he used a sandwich lol!") The entire fucking undertone of this reeks of "Look at how irrational black men are - this guy hit his girlfriend with a sandwich because he didn't like McChickens! and then aggressively pursued her with a camera to try to make her look like the unstable one!"
But go ahead and believe that this would be the same if he was white. Even though the media has spent the last few months openly and aggressively attacking and smearing every single black man it can get its bloodstained claws on, while white men who did horrible things get a far more sympathetic treatment, if they even end up on the news at all.
Instead of playing the race card all the time, how we focus on a MAN beating his pregnant fiance when she was trying to do something nice for him. I realize there is a HUGE injustice towards African Americans but it's past time everyone in the US stops playing the race card. And, I probably would have found the same thing had the guy been white because I tend to look up weird news stories. To be honest, I didn't even look at the picture when the guy in my class showed me the article. As I said, I didn't post this because he is a black man. I posted this because it's wtf worthy.
I honestly burst out laughing at this. Although I'm not sure why this escalated into a race claim. I wouldn't have even known he was black if I hadn't just read that comment.
While I do agree that black criminals have gained a LOT more media coverage lately than white criminals, I disagree with everything else. This man was charged with a simple domestic assault charge, he isn't even going to jail so relax. This was posted for the humor factor, not the OH MY GOD A BLACK MAN DID IT factor. They don't even mention anywhere in the article his race. People using the race card to excuse PEOPLE (thats right, all people of all races) for their crimes needs to stop. In my experience white folks who overreact about McDonalds gain just as much media coverage as black folks. Because it's absolutely ridiculous to hear about (who the heck uses a sandwich as a weapon?). Not because they're white.
