I've created tons of characters, and I am very specific with their descriptions. Because of this, I often do a lot of in depth research to better create and mold them into what I want them to be, but currently I am having a difficult time with one of them...

Here's some basics to get to know him: Name: Gregory Creepsyn Age: 36 Race: White (Human) Height: 5'2" Appearance: Short black hair, soft blue eyes, plump/round, wire-framed round glasses Occupation: Cardiac Surgeon (Heart Surgeon) About: Dr. Creepsyn, despite his eerie last name, is a very kind and loving man. He is also quite shy as a result of ruthless bullying when he was younger and at times even in his adult years. The main reason for this torment is his weight. Gregory was born with a disease which prevents his body from losing weight like a normal person. Because of this, he eats extremely healthy in order to prevent unnecessary weight gain (since he already has enough of that to worry about naturally). He also constantly uses his spare time to try and discover a cure for the disease since it is currently untreatable.

The problem I'm having with Gregory is that I cannot find any diseases that fall under this description. "Incurable", prevents weight loss (keeps unnecessary weight), not psychological, not from having to eat too much, non-fatal, and doesn't have any other truly horrible effects. I've looked up issues dealing with thyroids in particular seeing as they have a bad reputation for this kind of thing but no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Maybe it is curable, but he's allergic to or isn't physically able to handle the "cure"? Also, I'd prefer it not to be a made-up disease to keep things realistic. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you. :) Please ping!

i've heard of, and applied to one of my own characters, a very rare mutation that causes people to put on muscle mass when they should be gaining weight in fat instead! if i remember correctly, this particular mutation also caused some sort of additional stress to the ligaments?

i can't remember the name of the condition, but perhaps try looking around for that and browsing related conditions? alternatively, you might be able to get away with just outright calling it a genetic mutation, though idk if that's something i reaaallly recommend bcas you wanna be as sensitive as possible and do research about any sort of afflictions you give a character u kno (which clearly you've been doing and that's really exciting to see!!)

i heard of that mutation i mentioned through a documentary where a bunch of college students tried to put on weight by eating unhealthy foods - it turned out one of them just kept putting on muscle mass! i can't for the life of me remember what the doc was called, but it'd probably hold more information about abnormalities like this!

EDIT: wai t this is my first post did i just reply to a two year old thread
