Okay, normally doing the quests is a gamble, but the odds are pretty good that we'll come out a bit ahead, and that's awesome.

But today seems weird.

Specifically:

"This is the weekend special quest! That means increased prizes! The Library's Quests"

So it's asking for quest items much higher priced than usual, and consistantly. (50-80k instead of the normal 15-20 range I've been getting.)

I figure, oh cool, that's probably adjusted to make up for the "increased prizes" thing for the weekend.

Well. The awards are lower than I've ever seen them. Turned in a 50k book to the library, got 12k and a field lamp.

I'm not sure if this is normal for other people, or if something went off with the whole idea, but it's slightly less exciting than I was hoping it would be.

Anyone else?

Library quests aren't worth doing unless you can restock the books, imo. Though admittedly I don't actually get my quests done all that often because I am a lazy shit

Alexander is normally hit or miss for me. Sometimes he gives me jewelry and most of the time he gives me crap and most of the time he doesn't give me back the pure sp I spent for the item. I don't usually do them unless the book is restocking.

As for the weekend quest. I just did mine and lost ~90k in pure sp. If I take into consideration the items, at current shop search price, I'm up 800k. But that's assuming I can sell all those items at current price.

[edit]I also received a single quest point

Okay. I haven't been consistently losing money from it up until this point, but in 6 quests (2 I quit) I lost nearly 100k.

But hey, I got this totally awesome lamp!

Sums up my feelings (and I'm lazy @ all quests too ahaha) about Alexander. I know some people enjoy his quests, but I only touch them when I'm doing Shinwa and even then I look for books restocking (or that I already own). He's never a profit for me, I don't try even if he's the WSQ haha n_n

I wish his revamp had been as nice as Quentin's (who I absolutely love now), Maleria's or even Carl's. I don't lose as much sp even when I'm doing Cinthia so yeah. I should love Alexander, given I love books, but his quests probably make him the NPC I dislike the most xD Legit hatin' dat cheap ontra now LOL

Usually I don't agree with these topics, because my questing experience is at least okay for all the quests - except this one. I am almost always asked for items in the 50k+ range, and I almost always take a loss for completing these quests unless I only do the one or two lowly priced items. I don't consider them worth it at all since the revamp, and I only do them for a sense of completion when I'm in the mood to quest - and then I end up skipping, like, 7 or 8 of them.

Definitely like those quests and his NPC the least since his quests were revamped.

I guess the items aren't all that bad - but it's still a risk, since prices can really fluctuate heavily as demand changes. As said, if the items sell at current price it can be fairly profitable, otherwise this one seems to be an SP sink for almost everyone.

At this point I pretty much finished it because it gives me random items I can add to my collections. Thank goodness the Wizard gives enough to make up for it.

Quests are. It's a really amazing and cool system, with random prizes and the search link RIGHT THERE, and the quest point shops. It just seems that there are a few odd quirks that I haven't gotten the hang of yet.

As this is more of a discussion of quests than feedback, moving to the Quests forum.

Sorry. I had kind of intended it as feedback before, about how things weren't adding up the way I felt they should, but you're right, that's definitely what it's turned into. Thank you!

Alexander is all about item profit and that's the main reason everyone's making constant sP losses on him. If your primary goal is to rip off easy money like when doing Wiz quests, you're definitely on the wrong side here. His sP rewards are always poor, but he gives out pretty decent stuff you can sell in your shop. Most of the rewards are rare/super rare and usually much more expensive than the books you gave him. I don't know how many times I bought him books over 100k and got back items I could sell for double the price or even more (it's the same with Maleria; give her rare weapons and have a chance of receiving extremely good stuff). He's definitely worth doing if you're not too whiny about your current onhand sP. o:
