It all started with Fireside. Some say it was the smoke filling the air from the Veta Lake bonfire. Some say it was poisoned food given out by Charity, or the many vendors who celebrated by selling their pastries and farm goods. All most of us know is that after Fireside, people started becoming sick. The once healthy and free became slaves to their sickness. It began with a fever that soon led to coughing up blood. Then the vomiting began, followed by sweating. Eventually the sufferer would die, usually within a day or two of becoming sick.

There were so many deaths in the weeks after Fireside that there was nowhere to put the bodies anymore. Authorities tried to keep the sickly view hidden from those who had not become sick yet by using Shadowglen as a means of disposal. Shadowglen was now cut off from the rest of Subeta. While families mourned and bodies kept stacking, everything seemed in the cities surrounding Shadowglen. That is, until the dead began rising. The first witness was a boy not even 16 years old who had broken into Shadowglen because of a dare. He witnessed bodies rising from under the blankets, their bodies discolored and decaying. He tried his best to warn others of what he saw but nobody would listen.

By the time he proved himself to someone it was already too late. The infected had found their way out of Shadowglen and were slowly making their way into other parts of the world. The first to go was Darkside, and from there the Sacred Lands became nothing more than ashes. Veta was now a lake of blood, Centropolis no longer a bustling city. It spread quickly, the only safe places being SAI HQ and Ziara. The government soon began shipping those who were not infected to Ziara, while protecting government officials, political leaders, and other people of that nature in SAI HQ. Unfortunently the infected found their way into Ziara, and SAI HQ was soon shut down and raided by angry civilians who demanded protection, food, and whatever else they needed to get by.
