right so this is the first year that i'll be cooking thanksgiving dinner, and i need all the help i can get because i have no idea what i'm doing. i'm a mess in the kitchen as it is. it's just going to be my roommate and i but i'd still like cook a turkey and all of that. what size turkey should i get for just two people? how do i prep a turkey? how do i cook a turkey? any promising recipes? help. ;____; lend me all of your thanksgiving related advice.

A small turkey would be nice (you could also get a chicken). The turkey is most-likely frozen, so you need to put it in your bathtub or sink with cold water and let it go up to 48 hours (I'll ask my mother when she comes back from work, I haven't cooked those babies in ages). Then you take a huge tin-pan that you can throw away after (dollar store is friend) and put the turkey in it. I'd suggest seeking some recipe over the internet, tons of them with beer or cranberry sauce .. etc I usually use a chicken broth to bathe the turkey and make it less dry and more moist. :)
beer! what an idea. i've never heard of such a thing. but thanks for the info, i would have waited to get the turkey last minute probably and then i would have been in trouble as far as thawing it in time. do you know anything about giblets? i've read something about taking them out but i have no idea what they are or why i'm supposed to take them out. please excuse me, i have absolutely no idea what i'm doing, if you can't tell.

Okay my mom said that most giblets (hearts, kidneys.. whatever) are taken out before they froze the turkey. So put your hand in the butt, and check if the giblets are there or not (that's also where you put the stuffing). She also said to put your babe in the bathtub with cold water until it is unfrozen (moving legs, tender flesh) can go up to 12 hours +. I think the beer is typical Canadian xD
Friend, you can do it.
You may not want to prepare a whole turkey. There are some really good ideas on Chowhound for small Thanksgiving meals. The forums there are super easy to search. :)
