I am feeling very nostalgic today (what am i saying, I AM nostalgia :p ). I just got thinking of the old NES system and how alot of times you have to blow the cartridge to get it to work. Most of the time it took 6 tries to get a game to work for me. Ahh, those were the times...playing Super Mario Bros. 3, getting stuck at world 3 and can't advance...those were the days. Listening to Minecraft music is triggering my nostalgic feelings too.

I found that almost anything can trigger feelings of nostalgia for me. any music from 80s hip hop to 2000s alternative, movies, watching old gameplay, even some smells and toys. Teddy Ruxpin was my favorite bear as a kid. Ahh, childhood...even Super Mario 64 and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time trigger nostalgia. I played Super Mario 64 3DS remake and wow....the nostalgia hit. She hits hard sometimes too.

Oh, and one more thing, when you get the Mario Dies or Game Over from Mario Bros 3, I freaked out. I had to mute the tv as a kid because that sprite and jingle terrified me.

I was wondering, what are some things that set off nostalgia for you?

I agree for sure with the smell thing. I have a certain perfume that my stepmom always wore and I loved it, and I ended up buying some just because it smelled so good and reminded me of being a kid (: or sometimes I will randomly smell something and it will just randomly remind me of my childhood lol

I've been using my dad's PS2 since I was 6, and I always played this ATV racing game with him. He doesn't play it anymore (and I don't really either lol), but I have the entire soundtrack on my phone and I still listen to it from time to time. Gotta love those pre-2002 clipping glitches and buggy physics engines that sent you flying for miles when you hit a tree.

I grew up in the country, surrounded by fields of sunflowers and cottonwood trees. Plants and smells take me right back. Even a particularly warm day, a dandelion, a butterfly, a catfish.... any number of things get me thinkin about the good (and sometimes not so good) old days. I remember most of my childhood like it was yesterday, especially if something triggers a memory. It means so much to me that my first tattoo was the words "For Remembrance," symbolizing the importance of my past and how it shaped me, and also how important it is for me to hold onto it.

Sometimes I get nostalgia waves, that sort of feel like de ja vu but not quite. Like driving down a certain part of town will make me feel like I'm 10 years old again, going down that place for the first time. Smells, old RPG games, driving around my old hood in the winter...all bring back mad nostalgia. Such a weird feeling!

Last weekend my boyfriend and I played board games for date night and he picked up some Little Debbie Swiss Rolls and oh my goodness it sent me back to childhood! We ended up turning on some cartoons and I was reminded of the nights before I went back to moms after a custody visit. My dad used to make hamburgers and hotdogs after we spent the day in the pool and we would sit watching Popeye and Looney Toons having swiss rolls for dessert!

we just got direct tv so we get some channels that we didn't have before, and on teen nick after midnight they play 90s cartoons, and it brings me back to the days when I use to be able to spend a saturday watching cartoons.

Just the other day I drew a Neopet for someone and it triggered the urge to go back and visit the site 'just to play the games'. So I did and now I'm hooked again. XD

Every now and then I'll remember a very particular toy I loved and obsessively try to figure out what it was, then whatever site I find it on will have similar toys that I either also had or desperately wanted, then I'll consider buying something and talk myself down because it's not worth it and where would I even put toys in my apartment, then it's the "well but it could be for any future kids" and I talk myself out of that too, and then I'll forget for months and do it all over. This has happened with certain My Little Ponies, Littlest Pet Shop playsets, little dolls called Baby Buddies (?) that were somehow associated with Littlest Pet Shop and came with pets from the same moulds and I had the dollhouse, Polly Pocket (when she was tiny and came in a little box that was a world!), certain stuffed animals (esp. Beanie Babies and those ones with plastic faces and velcro bellies and babies?), model horses (Grand Champions & Breyer), and many more I'm sure. I love toys and if I had more money and less self control there'd be waaaay too much pink stuff lying around here.

turning this into a picture post bc it's happening now so like, if anyone wants to buy me any of that…
