I was reading in the Beta Wardrobe: Skins thread in Announcements that a lot of people were disappointed they couldn't mix their zombie strain with an experiment strain.
For the current experiments only that are available for the HA from the zapper during Morostide, why not have Experiment Playsets? No new experiments would be considered for Playsets unless new experiments show up in next year.
Similar to and others, it'd look a lot like, though not quite the same as the zapper, the experiment of your choice. They could be rare prizes given out by either Maleria (because she's in the same place the Zapper V.2 is) or Quentin as rare finds. This way they'd have value and people can mix and match to their heart's content.
Seeing as the zombie skins were literally (up until 2 days ago) the base skin, certain parts of the experiment became attached to that, causing some pretty interesting effects.
Now, with you only being able to wear one skin at a time, the parts of the experiment no longer are able to attach themselves to the zombie base, but the human skin base.
I think some pretty neat combos could come from this if this was something that was added to the site. However, keep in mind these would only be parts of experiments. If your whole body was covered (say, the nightmare skin), you'd probably get the wisps and the facial features, for example.

This sounds like something fun to play around with, though I don't think it needs to be limited to the zapper skins (meaning it could spread to the other experiments/maybe colors, not zombie skins) especially since some of them aren't possible to be turned into a playset (scribble, 886), and I don't think if should include facial features. 893 could be just the tail maybe.
[edit] Actually, there are so many skins that this just isn't possible for that this probably isn't worth it just as an "add layerable features of skins" thing :/
I dunno if I was clear or not XD These would literally be accessories just like the other playsets. They wouldn't be skins at all.

I know that. But you said they would be similar to the skins, and there are very few that you could turn into a playset. Maybe if they were based more on the experiment themselves, staff could come up with things but like the Experiment 333 and 2285 skins are already just hair. To make a playset of that would be pointless because it would be the same thing as the skin. And there are a lot of skins like that, that are just partial features that you couldn't really turn into a playset without it being the same as the skin.
With the current experiment HA bases that are shown there from the zapper, there'd be bits and pieces of them put into playsets.

Full Body Experiment Zaps]
Bits and pices would be taken from those full-body zaps and turned into a playset. The Hydrus, for exmple, would have the eyes, the glowing bits and the sea stuff. The Nightmare would have the eyes, mouth, wisps and claws. Blacklight and spectrum would have their appropriate triangular tattoos along with the rainbow behind them and the colour blotches. could have the markings, eyes, nose, ears and eyebrows. It would go on for any of the experiments I missed. These are only suggestions, however.
Experiments like the alien one that has a lot to it, staff could choose what would be in that set and what would be left out - maybe the brain and the organs found in the chest, abdomen and pelvic regions, the eyes and the veins. For the DM, the DM balls and their purple trails, the purple glow and the eyes. Galactic would have just the gold. Experiment would have the eyes, the ears, the holes and the spikes on the back. Once again, only suggestions.

HA Experiment bases with only partial bases]
These sets would come with exactly as you see them here. The ones you say are like hair, let's use Experiment for this example, there'd be three pieces to that set: the fur tuft on the top of the head, the ears and the antenae. could have head paint which includes the mouth, eye and nose, and then the ears making it a two piece set. could have the fish bowl and then those weird tendril things around the eyes, chin and neck. This would carry on for the rest of them. These ones would be two or three piece playsets. The only exception probably would be where it would only have the one piece.
All playsets would only look a little different from the true zaps as they're playsets, not actual zaps.
This wouldn't be something instantaneous. Just something that I thought I'd throw out there for something fun in the nearer future :) I know it'd be some work, too, given how they look. That's why, if these ideas ever did become reality they'd take their time being put on site.
However, it'd be nice just so that people who did enjoy layering experiment and zombie skins would be able to layer them to their heart's content :)
It wouldn't be all experiments at the moment, either. Just the ones that are currently found each year from the zapper. If any new ones were added, they, too, could be possibly considered for playsets.
Like I said - would be for fun and wouldn't look exactly like the zapper experiment skins. Just like we don't have exact NPC clothing as that's exclusive to the individual NPCs, this would run along those same lines.
looks at my novel and shakes head XD

This sounds like something that needs to be reworked within the wardrobe skin feature itself. Like categorizing skins based on whether they were full body or partial, and allowing players to pick one from each category.

lol whatever way is easier would be fine. I just know a lot of people were disappointed about not being able to layer them! XD

I still don't like the idea of including the facial features, personally.
I suppose the various markings on skins could be taken from some of the skins (galactic, hydrus, etc.) but I don't consider that a playset in and of itself, it's something that I could see being included in a playset with other materials. I just don't feel there's a lot of room to take from some of these skins. We already have an item similar to the hydrus markings: and Dark Matter has a ton of items on site that will give you the floating blobs of Dark Matter too.
I just don't see there being a lot of possibilities for what to do with some of these skins, and personally if this were to be done I'd prefer to see them based off of the experiments themselves than off the zapper skins. Leave the zapper skins as their own feature. Besides, that would leave a lot more room to include features that were left out of the skins, and that would be something I could get behind. I feel like there's a lot more room to make different pieces off of the whole experiments rather than off of skins that are already pieced together parts of the experiments, examples in the spoiler.
Pieces that could possibly be included in playsets based on the experiments that aren't included in the matching skins:
Experiment : More prominent back fins and ears, maybe include a tail
Experiment : The tounge, the back spines, a third horn, the mane, a spiked tail
Experiment : Hooves, the horns, the leopard markings from the front half
Experiment : Worms on the body, not just in the mane, maybe ears, the tail
I wouldn't mind seeing the pet colors getting playsets too, but they would have to be able to be broader than just the markings and facial features, imo. They should also take inspiration from the pets in these colors moreso than the skins.
So basically tl;dr I support experiment pet-based (and maybe pet color-based) playsets, but not zapper skin-based playsets.
...I like this idea...and I was just thinking the other day how I'd love different colors of the current ones too. =3 But I don't really agree much with making items out of the zap skins now that bases themselves are layerable...making it where you can use both a partial and full one, perhaps...but not making them into actual items.
