Hey guys! So my bday is coming up and my man wants to know what I want to do for it. He doesn't like it when I say "Surprise me" or "I really don't care" so I thought I'd be proactive and get some ideas. What can a girl that lives in a rural area in driving distance of the city do for her birthday that isn't totally ordinary?

OMG MY BDAY IS COMING TOO O.O Anyways, tricky question! That depends a lot on what you guys like - for instance, in my case, a good birthday is invite my friends to lunch and play videogames/board games/RPG all day long xDD That of course doesn't include my family =x

We normally are on vacation for my birthday because we do July 4th, my day July 5th and our wedding anniversary is July 7th. We usually go to dinner and a movie, which seems dull but that means my hubby will sit through a chick flick for my birthday and Valentine's day. LOL. You should think of what you want to do that day and let him know. Either a drive into the city, for lunch and some shopping. Maybe a musical matinee. Find out what's happening in the nearby city to see if there are any special event. Usually, it's do whatever mom wants, even my son will go along with it. LOL.

That sounds like a great birthday, as long as it's what you want to do, that's all that matters. I actually get together with my two good friends to celebrate our respective birthdays, and each one of us does something different when we get together. :)

That does sound fun and I would be all for it, if I lived near my friends, but all of my life-long friends live in other parts of the country or across seas. The friends I have made where I live are almost exclusively from church and I do enjoy their company, but I don't think they're the board-game type. We play games in our home as a family about once a week, though. :) Thanks for the idea! I may use it for part of the family celebration.

A musical sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, that would mean driving two and a half hours to Salt Lake City and I'd feel weird being away from my baby for so long. I bet they have smaller theater productions in the nearer town, though. I'll have to look into it. :)

As an aside, did you guys know we used to make sp off of posting? I didn't.

Yes, a local production of some kind, even a little concert would be fun. Check your local listing. I know you don't want to be so far from the baby. :) Thanks for the makeup. <3 Yes, I did know we used to make sP by posting. Not anymore. No we get forum points. Which is kinda cool.

you're welcome. Thanks for the centipede. :)

Since I didn't know that we got paid for posting until it was too late, I don't mind the new system.

I think I might ask him to cook for me. He's a very acceptable chef. And then maybe a show if I can find one.

Oh gosh, I totally missed this :( Are you still looking for ideas? Basically, just do what you want to do most? (Though I just noticed that I have a pretty different opinion from a good birthday than anyone else though.)

My birthday isn't until the 29th. :) I would live to travel, but that's not really feasible with the new baby.

Doing something romantic like dinner would be perfect, people often forget that watching tv or grocery shopping isnt spending time togethor, sitting down for a nice supper and actually talking and having a few drinks would be nice, even getting a babysitter for the night or having a "staycation" where you go to a hotel for a night maybe hit the hot tub or pool something like that :)
