Loving the Morostide events with the patch, ToT, the spooky house, the creepy challengers... But something seems missing... and it has to do with pumpkins...

One thing I've always seen around Oct-Nov is something called "Pumpkin Chunkin'" where machines are built to hurl pumpkins over long distances.

Now, how do I think this could work? Well, it could be a great way to get rid of extra carved pumpkins, after of course everyone's done getting the ones they want or feeding the amount to the pets to get the Pumpkin Eater Achievement (since, was we know, the carved ones can't be deleted towards the Pumpkin Murderer Achievement, but if I'm wrong, please let me know!).

How it would work:

• Users could go to the pumpkin chunkin' game and use whatever carved pumpkins they have in their inventory to chunk using whatever machine that they wanted (air cannons, trebuchets, large slingshots, etc).
• Different distances would get different prizes, and those that got a certain distance could get an achievement called "Pumpkin Chunkin!" with the Forum Title " -username- is a Pumpkin Chunker!".
• However, if a pumpkin breaks up as it flies (pies, as it's called), then you lose.
• It could also have a certain limit of pumpkins chunked per day and could start at the first of October and go through the middle to late November.

So, what do you think, guys? Think it'd be a cool idea? Better than seeing all those carved pumpkins in the DC or deleted, if you ask me!

[edit] There's one MAJOR change here, now that I think about it. Many thanks to for this, seeing as I wouldn't want the pumpkins to get too expensive for those still wanting to get them. -You can only chunk one pumpkin per day for each day that the pumpkin chunker was open (and it'd open up each year, so people might have some saved up).

It's a cute idea, but I don't know that we really need another use for the pumpkins...they can be asked for in Quentin's quests, as well as being collection items. So even if you've fed them to a pet for gourmand/the carved pumpkin achievement, they do still have uses and I wouldn't want them to be too rare considering you can only get this year's carvings from this year's floating pumpkins, and at least some leftovers of those will need end up deleted for the pumpkin deleter achievement, too.

Yea, I know, but during the first part of Morostide, there's so many of 'em that get carve that they start to drop in value pretty rapidly... and then after that, you tend to start seeing 'em in the DC once people get tired of carving 'em, so the game might make it fun to keep hold of them even if they weren't being put into shops. Plus, Achievements/Forum titles are always fun to get. :)

[edit] You sure they can be used for the deleter one? I tried deleting some of them previously but didn't get counted for them (not counting the mass deletion I did earlier, I mean).

Yeah, but they go up after Morostide ends and some can get pretty expensive :x Last year's aren't, but some older pumpkins are selling for upwards of 100k. It's not as bad as some things, but I wouldn't want to see so many pumpkins being fed into a game that the new ones would be that expensive right off the bat or anything. I went through sometime earlier this year and completed my pumpkin collection (at that time) so I feel for the newbies in a few years that are going to have to hunt down all these new carved pumpkins

[edit] Sorry I didn't see your edit earlier, no the carved ones can't be used for the pumpkin deleter. The Ready-to-Carve ones can though, and that's the only pumpkin you can get this year's carvings from. So if the carved pumpkins become rarer, buying the Ready-to-Carve ones isn't viable either as some of those are likely to be deleted.

Hmm... Maybe only having it where you could use a certain amount of pumpkins total (like perhaps 20-30, since we know people get more than that from floating pumpkins), might be better and that you could only use the chunker once per day then?

So it would be a random game or some sort of 'draw back and fire' slingshot kind of thing? I actually really like the idea of a pumkin chunker.

Somewhat like that. :) You know how we see with the carnival games, though some machines would have better chances for certain things, while others would have worse chances. It'd be a trial-and-error until you got the hang of it.

I like this. Some areas do have this event annually and since there's none around here...I can still do a virtual one :p

Yea... Also, you'd have wind factoring in, just like in golf, so it might make your pumpkin fly further or less, depending on when the pumpkin was released from the machine. :D

I like the idea. I must admit when I first heard the title it reminded me of Modern Family :P

I wouldn't mind a veggie or fruit chunkin' option, if folks think pumpkins shouldn't have another use.

Lots of the fruits and veggies in the store aren't worth a whole lot.

Speaking as one who's seen pumpkin chuckin' with a trebuchet, yessssssssssssssssssssss.

This sounds like it'd be a lot of fun actually, I've never actually got to experience it first-hand. I have seen it on tv though and I think it'd be a great addition to Morostide/Fireside.

This could be fun as an arcade type game. I imagine it being something like Spacerocked on Neopets, or Burrito Bison. I'm not sure Subeta's programmers are up for programming the physics and stuff necessary to make this actually work, though? Unless there's like a ready-to-use library they can use for that.

If it's just a daily clickable thing like Coda Caves or the Ruffie Raffle, then it just sounds really boring and unappealing to me. Like it might as well just be a "use" option on the pumpkins themselves. :/

Yea, that's what I'm worried as well. If they could pull of a flash game of it, it would be awesome. :D
