The monthly collections haven't been called Donation Presents since 2008, but the collections from before that change still carry that name. My understanding is that the change was to encourage people to think of CS purchases as products or as purchasing a service, rather than donating to a fledgling game site. Unfortunately, some people still think of their CS purchases as donations, which I think gives the wrong impression of what Subeta is -- or at least what it wants to be.

Maybe it's time to rename those older "Donation Presents"?

DPs kept their name because they function differently than Collections. The item you get from a Donation Present is still random, like it was initially, and I wouldn't really want that to be changed now, so many years later. [edit] Just realized that you never said to rename them to Collection, just to not be Donation Present anymore. I suppose I could get behind that, I still don't really think it's necessary, though.

I can sort of care less about it, honestly. I can definitely see why they should maybe be renamed.

People have always known them as DPs, and even if you changed the name, people would still call them DPs, kinda like how most people say 'ISS.' I think changing them to anything else would kinda be pointless, and changing them to 'collections' would cause confusion as to which ones are random and which ones aren't.

This is true, I still call it ISS.

I really don't think that "notion" is going to change, regardless of what the name of those items are. Some people are going to continue to view anything CS/$ related as being a donation.

Irregardless, I think that they represent a historical part of Subeta, and I wouldn't want to see them changed.

You know, if you buy from the cash shop you get a title that says "donated to the cash shop!" that probably contributes to people thinking that what they're doing is donating instead of buying a service.

I still call it ISS too xD But I call the collections MCs (admittedly causes a bit of an issue between "monthly collections" and "millionaire center", though)! The issue with the old ones still being called DPs is what said, you get a random choice among the items it contains vs taking your pick in MCs. x:

I wouldn't mind if they got a name change to something that included "collection", for the sake of consistency, but I would still want it to be different from current collections, to keep this "alert" that it's not the same thing anymore. And I totally understand people wanting to just keep DP because it's the name we're all used to x:

If they're renamed I wouldn't shed tears or anything, but I don't really feel like they should be changed unless it was to "collection" and they were all changed to function like collection items. That I would be behind because I hate gambling, and there's so few in circulation (or so many, depending), that I don't think that change would really cause a massive economic crisis.

That said I don't really get the concept of changing them from donation presents because of the word "donation". If anything, it's more justifiable to people to "donate to x website" than it is to "buy fake curacy with real money on x website", the same way some people are okay with spending $15 but not $20. I will always call it donating (subconsciously, probably for that reason), just like I still call account inactivity "clearings", and it took me like 4 years to finally call it potioning instead of painting xD;

The only thing is, I know if it says DP then I know I will get a random item. Thats really the only reason I don't want it to change. Because I may get confused and perhaps others. Imagine the tickets from this. THINK OF THE UAs.

Changing the name won't change the attitude. :c It doesn't work as quickly as that. I don't see why we should change something when so many people know them as DPs and changing them would only cause confusion.

I wouldn't support a change in the name, unless the function was changed too. If they are going to remain random, there must be a distinction in the name.

I see no sense in changing the name. It's what they were known as back in the day and how people know them. It also helps me to remember I'm getting a random item, not one I get to pick out.
