Unable to change wardrobe. What am I doing wrong?

Hi everyone,
I'm new and I did browse the forums here but can't find an answer to my question. I also saw the FAQ on the wardrobe. I'm having trouble getting an outfit and changing my hair. I have hair and an outfit in my wardrobe so that's not the issue. I've also tried saving my outfit in the slots. Each time it says it's been saved.
Maybe the issue is when I first started I didn't have hair and I used the old Hair salon to try and make hair. I came out bald of course. A friend of mine here informed me I needed to have hair so she sent me hair.
In the old wardrobe the hair I created shows up layered in with the new hair piece and I can't remove it. There isn't an option to check it and use "remove check". It shows up multiple times and I've tried the remove all button. I also tried going to the salon and simply saying "no thanks". In the new wardrobe I only see the hair my friend gave me. I try to save it and it shows up fine but when I check my profile I"m back to wearing the old clothes and being bald.
How do I remove this layer of hair?
I must of also saved my outfit with no hair to all three of my slots. Are you able to replace these slots with new outfits? I seem to not be able to do so.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link any screen shots but if so I'll be happy to upload to photobucket and show that it's being saved in the new wardrobe and in the old wardrobe. The only difference is in the old wardrobe I can't remove the layer of hair I originally created.
Any suggestions??

Edited to add Well now that layer of hair is showing up. So I did something correctly but I still can't remove that hair layer. Thanks for any help here.
Have you tried back to normal, please in the old hair salon?

Thanks . Yes I did. Just tried it again and when I clicked it nothing happened.
Then try changing your hair to bald in the avatar section in the old wardrobe?
