As someone who is quite sensitive to unexpected sounds, I'd really appreciate the sounds to be automatically toggle off when a game loads. Even if it's just an option under the User Preferences, it would be greatly appreciated.

Oh god this x100. I just mute my computer because I can't stand the game music playing automatically. If it's not allowed on user profiles, it shouldn't be allowed on the rest of the site either :|

I'll admit, this is one of the main reasons I don't play the games that much. 9 times out of 10 when I'm onsite I'm usually playing music (other time is watching youtube vids) and once the game loads I hate having it blare out of my speakers over my music. In fact I find all game music annoying, not just on here either.

I love Memory but hate how you have to turn the sound off at the start of every game.

I support this. While the music is nice, it's not so nice when you don't have headphones or are not expecting it. As much as MD asks you to play spectrail.... and when you go to spectrail that music is absolutely BLARING as soon as it abruptly comes on.

Imagine the mortification of just playing this site in a public space like a library computer. Or deciding you need to do MD quests at 3 am with no headphones and you forgot to turn the sound down.

A general rule that I've seen is, no one likes autoplays. No one. Ever.

But on the other hand... It's a game. Games generally have music, so I'm not sure why it takes people by surprise when they load up a game and, woah nelly, it has music and sound effects and the works. Nonetheless, I still support being able to disable game music via userdashboard or something.

I think you said it with your Spectrail example. ;)

The music on the games tends to be so loud that it drowns out what I'm playing while I try and remember how to mute the darn game. It's not like I'm listening to music really loud either. Unless I'm watching something on youtube that involves talking I rarely turn my volume up beyond 15-20. I've heard that annoying "song" used on Spectrial so many times now that I want to hunt down whoever made it and subject them to listening to it at 100% volume for hours.

When I play games that have music and sound effects volume controls I can customize, I turn that crap way down to barely there if not just muted completely.

I support this. I'm one of those people that browse the site while listening to my own music and I am well aware that the games have music, but it still startles me every time I forget. Anymore, I just mute the sound that comes from the browser/flash/etc. An option through the dashboard would be fantastic!

I'm a little disappointed this hasn't had any attention from the staff considering the original reason I suggested this... Hopefully it'll get noticed soon. :

I fully support this idea! I like listening to books on tape while questing and playing games, and sometimes I completely forget that a game has music until it comes blaring through my speakers and I miss some witty retort from Tyrion :(

100% in agreement of this. especially for games where you have to refresh on each play, like memory, it's annoying to have to press the "sound off" button right when you load the page. it would be so much easier to just be able to make it off by default.

100% support this. having loud sound shock when playing games is unpleasant. especially while watching movie at low volume in the middle of the night.
